Anyone ever think of selling their collection and owing just ONE single holy grail ring? I think of it often...bit don't know if I can do it.

I change up my bling often...wear different sets of rings on my wedding finger only. I wish I was one of those who only wore the same jewelry all the time; but I am not. If I only kept one amazing bling though, I would have no choice. But would I be happier, not satisfied, or just be content with one "hell yes big bling" rock? If I sold all my rings, I would probably manage finding something amazing... But would that keep me on ban island (which I want to be a part of...forever!)

I often think of this lol but I don't think I could just have one piece to rule them all. How boring would it be?

My small but mighty collection serves it's purpose. I don't change jewellery very often, but I would like a HG in every category lol HG ring, HG earrings, HG pendant etc.. haha I'm going to be on Ban Island for a very long time.

I forgot to mention lol rings don't count haha I want a solitaire, cluster, 3 stone, coloured stone etc haha I haven't even started with pearls yet.

I admire people who can do this, but it's not me. I don't have any great collection but I like variety. Sometimes just a gold wedding band. Mostly my 5 stone bezel set because it's indestructible. Sometimes bigger bling in the eye of the beholder, me. Plus I have 2 daughters and no grandchildren going forward. They can split stuff and sell it or whatever they want. I actually think I'm done buying as well. Maybe.

No way I can do this! They are all accessories for me and I need different ones to match with different outfits.

What would I do if all I had was a ring? What about a bracelet? And a necklace? And different colours? And rummage rings?

I am curious though, what everyone’s ultimate item? I need lots of items! I’m a variety girl. That’s my ideal - different things to coordinate with my clothes.

This is my plan

One holy grail per category. To switch things up - I have several bands- those don’t count, lol!

One diamond ring
One colored gemstone ring
One diamond bracelet
One pendant
One earring

I’ve got 7 years to do this. Once I’m done, I’m retiring. If I do this sooner, I’m retiring sooner!

I am a minimalist by nature, so this would be perfect for me! Unfortunately, I can't get rid of my original pear engagement
ring so, sadly, it sits in my jewelry box.

I have another ring that I love the style of, but it just doesn't get worn. I should sell it, but going through the selling process is
a pain.

Stacking with different bands would be my way of getting any needed variety.

I've been giving away my stuff for a couple of years, things that I had to have that accumulated to the point where a lot of it never got worn so I decided to get rid of that stuff and keep the stuff I wear the most. My holy grail has changed every decade as my tastes in jewelry changed. The only thing left that I wish I had is an OEC around 4ish carats but I'm no longer interested in the hunt for the grail or the endless angst over choosing the right setting so that OEC will probably remain on the wish list forever.

What colour CS? Haha I love this thread because I want to know what one colour everyone will pick!

Sapphire! It’s my birthstone… either a velvety sleepy royal blue or cornflower blue, velvety raspberry pink or delicate pink padparascha. I have the setting, so it just depends on what stone I fall in love with that will work with my antique Georgian setting. I’m completely ok if the search takes a while, as the setting will be worth the search.

I had my hubby photoshop a couple stones I liked for a visual…

Antique Georgian silver/18k yellow gold
4ct + high crown antique cushions, peruzzis and a couple tables
Needs cushion shaped 11.05 x 7.36mm
Will more than likely need to be polished to fit :)

Oh that is beautiful!!! Enjoy the hunt!!! It will be worth it and oh so satisfying when you find the one!

Thank you! It will be a journey - I have so much to learn in the CS world, so it’s good on multiple levels … I honestly love all three options and feel like I flip between the blue and the light pink on the hour, lol! I love how the light pink lets the setting stay in the spotlight - but the blue is so beautiful and classic.

I don't have any important pieces to sell so that I could get my holy grail, but I do think of all the fluff I've purchased over the years. I'd more than have my silky sapphire by now.

A friend said you enjoyed the journey so don't fret about it. So I don't.

I think about this all the time because in reality, I am the kind of person who only really wears one ring. I like the idea of multiples + I love the hunt, so I keep searching and buying but I’m really a staple pieces kind of person.

So excited for this!!! I love love love that deep royal blue so much. But they are all gorgeous!!

No, I don't think about it, ever. I like variety and change my jewelry often. I also like to have jewelry in all three metal colors. I find that I wear my biggest diamonds the least often, and they aren't really that large, just about 2 cts. So I wouldn't buy anything larger as it would never be worn.

As a colored gemstone nut there is now way for me to do that. I can't even say one in each color or type, because I have 2 red spinel rings, 3 purple spinels, 3 blue sapphires, etc. I also have 3 diamond rings, but they each have different cuts so that's how I justify that, lol. I could trim my collection down but I know I will just roll that $ into other colors and from types I don't have. I definitely want a pad, Paraiba, and a yellow chrysoberyl. One and done definitely ain't me.

The only thing I have multiples of is bracelets. My rings, earrings, pendant and watch all stay the same. I have bought, sold and traded to get where I am and I thoroughly enjoy my jewelry. I can’t imagine having to decide on what to wear every day - lol!

Yes! I struggle with putting together an outfit too much to have to pick out jewelry and figure out what to do with my hair … staples only!

I like variety as well-- in jewelry and in perfumes.
And food.

I don't need variety in shoes and bags, though. And I don't actually vary my clothing a lot. Every season it seems I wear a few items over and over.

I think I would only do this for a holy grail natural untreated colored stone. I pretty much don’t even look at natural diamonds anymore, because lab diamonds scratch that itch just fine. If the exact right sapphire or ruby came along though…

THIS COMPLETELY

Oh yeah. Absolutely...but my problem is, when I search, I go down a rabbit hole and it never ends and I end up finding stuff I don't need, but that is a good deal...stuff like that

Nope, never in fact, as variety is the spice of life, and that applies to jewellery too in my book.

DK :))

I just gave my niece one of my diamonds for her wedding. It was once an earring of mine. She had it made into a pendant on a platinum chain. (She also borrowed my AGBF inside/outside hoops made by Whiteflash to wear at her wedding.)

I would give up all my jewelry right now if I could get rid of it to one person and get decent value for it. I don't want to waste time listing pieces individually. I spent many years photographing Lilly Pulitzer clothes and Vera Bradley bags and selling them on eBay. I won't do that again.

So lovely to hear from!!! I hope you are well.

And how lovely you gifted your niece a diamond for wedding jewellery and that she got to wear your beautiful earrings. Your collection is enviable and truth be told, if I had the funds I'd take you up on it!

Erm-nope. I was supposed to stop, but I didn't...

I only have pseudo-discipline with bracelets which is why my 8 ctw is currently for sale :geek2:

I should be on Ban Continent or Ban Alcatraz by now...
