Hi,

I didn''t find about this site until _after_ I purchased at bluenile. I received my diamond yesterday, and it looks nice (but not jaw-dropping) , so I''m not sure if its as great as it could be for the money I spent. I''m a student in a ton of debt, so I only have about $2000 to spend. Maybe my expectations are skewed after weeing $40,000 rings at Tiffanys.

so anyways, I bought a
0.56 H VS1 AGS000 (part of signature collection) for $1919.

I don''t remember the angles off-hand, but I ran it through the HCA and it scored 0.9 within TIC range. Excellent light return, fire, and scintillation, but I think only "very good" for spread.

I haven''t proposed yet. If people think I could get something dramatically better for this money, then i would consider returning it and buying from whiteflash, goodoldgold, etc. I tried looking at pricescope search, but am still confused. Also, would I notice a difference by eye from a SI stone? Thanks for comments.

Hm... yours sounds like a potential H&A stone, but who knows? There is more at play in a dimaond's optics than what AGS and the HCA indicate. Since I can't see the stone from this side of the screen, it is hard to tell what makes it non-jaw-dropping for you!

The safest bet there is would be a stone with some direct analysis of it's optical properties (as oposed to set of numbers only) available (Isee2, Briliance Scope, Ideal Scope and such).

SI would be great, but in the respective range, it would be the premium on incresing size affecting the price more than anything else.

How does THIS sound ?

I too just made a purchase from blue nile, however I had been on this site night and day for a little over a month. I bought a .44 J VS2 with med. blue flour. graded by GIA for 680. I got it this morning and it is beautiful. I think that I got an excellent deal. Having said that, I think that in your case, you could do a lot better for just under 2 G'z. As for the clarity ?, I highly doubt that you would be able to see inclusions with the naked eye if it is a PROPERLY graded SI1. Run a search here and I am sure you will be able to find closer to a .7 for about what you spent on the .5

I've been doing some searches on here for some half carats for a potential pendant. Most of mine have been for H Si1 stones. Given your clarity and that it is an AGS 000 cut, from Blue Nile, that price is not out of line. Having said that, if you downgraded the clarity on your stone a bit, you could probably get a larger stone for the money. Note, I'm not trying to talk you out of your stone. From what I've seen in my similar searches, your price is fine for that stone. And the clarity is great. It sounds like a real sparkler.

On Si stones, you can get "eye clean" stones at Si1. My wife's current stone is an Si1, and I can't see anything in it.

My advice is try to avoid buyer's remorse. I think you did a good job given the cut, clarity and color. Sure, maybe there is a bit of a better deal out there, but don't drive yourself crazy over it. I don't think you got ripped off in any way. You may be able to get a bit larger, but you'd have to give up a bit in clarity to get there. If size is important, call Blue Nile and see what they have in the same price range for a VS2 or and Si1 clarity and go from there.

Otherwise, just sit back, relax, and prepare for popping the question!

h vs1 is a ex combo although it seems like bluenile, on the average price wise it's higher than other vendors here on PS. as for SI stones.I just purchased a 3 ct SI 1 from gog and I couldn't see a thing without a loupe.

While Blue Nile has a great 30 Day Return period, other Vendors offer Lifetime Upgrades. If, at some point down the road, you want to trade for a bigger diamond, it's a very simple proceedure and your full purchase price will be applied to the new diamond.

Just a thought for you.
