Hi to Everyone,

I found the forum a few weeks ago and have learned a lot from reading.

My BF and I plan to be engaged by the end of this year (once we both receive tenure at our jobs).

We have about 15,000-16,500 to spend on a ring.

What what woudl be good size, cut, color, clarity in a round brilliant for that budget?

I woudl like something that is cut well - hearts and arrows- is that the best cut there is?

Thanks :)

Welcome!

As long as the cut is great then you will have a pretty stone, it doesn't need to necessarily be h&a to have a super cut. What I would suggest is to view some in person of various sizes, colour and clarity grades, that way you will know where your preferences lie before purchase. You might prefer colourless ( D E F ) and or very high clarity ( VVS), or more of a middle ground G or H colour and VS to SI clarity, even I or J colour will still be white and allow extra size for the money. But I would definitely advise viewing some diamonds in person not only to get a feel for the above but your size preferences too. Also look at GIA or AGS graded diamonds, these 2 labs are considered to be the gold standard for diamond grading.

Check out Jareds if there is one closeby, they sell AGS0 Peerless or Hearts on Fire if there is a dealer near you, that way you will be comparing well cut diamonds in person. Then once you have an idea of what to actually buy, you can look online, we can help guide you through the process too!

You have a nice budget so enjoy the process, take your time and above all look at some diamonds first so you know what your preferences are.

This is $14,624 wire priced...maybe something like this if eye clean; ask them...

Can anyone suggest a reputable online dealer who had lovely pear shapes?

Right now WF and GOG show one each on the search by cut db at $3300 and $11000 respectively, and both are well regarded to here to work with...
