It’s been shipped, now I’m just waiting the one or two days it’ll take for it to get here. I am absolutely over the moon ecstatic and hope that I like it in person too.

Finding a natural pearl necklace was one of my dreams, and I had mostly given up on it. There actually are a few really nice ones floating around online, but many of them are quite small or quite short. This one is a classic 7 mm center Pearl center graduating down to 3 mm, all uncultured/natural saltwater pearls, and is just what I’ve always wanted. Can’t wait to share some pics soon!

Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing it.

How exciting!

Oh I can't wait to see more pics! Congratulations!

A few quick Easter Sunday pics - I ADORE my new necklace so, so much!

There are a large number of truly incredible pearls, a large number of quite gorgeous pearls, and a few mediocre pearls. They have the luster of akoyas, a sharp, reflective type of luster rather than a glow. The colors vary - pinks, cream, sharp silvery white, blueish whites.

They are lovely!

I am a huge fan of natural pearls!

Can you tell us more about the clasp?

absolutely lovely !

So simply elegant and..well...secret. You'd have to know pearls to spot what they are so do you walk around wearing them feeling all 'I've got secret pearls on'? (not just a badly matched thrown together strand of freshwaters?)

OMG, that luster! So gorgeous.

Most people don't know pearls. So what if people think they are just cultured freshwaters? Likely most people who see my drop shaped golden SSP think they are just dyed beads.

We wear our pearls for ourselves. =)2
They are lovely, @Indylady.

Exactly my point

it does feel like a special little secret! They’re totally subtle - esp cause I love big pearls in the 9-10mm range. Pearls my first love, when I was seven I watched a documentary on pearls which sparked my love for gems forever onward. I’ve scoured the ‘net for natural pearls is anyone else is interested in some leads.

Adding an update here - Pearl Paradise help me update these with a few more natural pearls. I think the purist would be sad because I did break up the original necklace, made by one of the founding partners of Tiffany and Co., but ultimately this necklace is a passion project and not for resale. Pearl Paradise plucked out some of the worn and faded pearls, and interspersed a number of colored salt water pearls that I've collected over the years I feel like a princess wearing a natural pearl necklace. I thought finding my one true necklace would satisfy my dreams, and while it has to a great extent, I need more. I don't know why I find them so magical, but I do.

This is gorgeous!

Out of interest, are the natural saltwaters you collected Tahitian keshi?

Thank you so much @Daisys and Diamonds!

Thanks @Pomelo! They're not keshies. Just multicolored saltwaters. The biggest is a bronze/brown color.

Oh amazing! Just for my curiosity - what type of oyster produced the bronze/brown natural pearl? :geek2:

That's a great question! I have a GIA cert at home, I can let you know in a couple weeks. That bronze pearl is about 8mm, saltwater, and was an individual purchase - the only individual purchase of the whole strand. It probably makes up about 1/6th of the cost of the necklace. I'm really glad it didn't break while drilling, which is a real possibility with natural pearls because you don't know what's inside. I took one white stand, added the bronze, added a small set of 4 white pearls, and a larger set of small mixed colored pearls. I just did the math on the cost of the entire necklace, cringing a little at the cost of I don't care - I love the necklace so much. I'll have to get the whole thing cert'd soon.

A lot of 'new'/non-antique natural pearls are coming from Mexico these days, FWIW. I'm working on a larger necklace now. The pearls aren't as pretty - luster isn't as great, surfaces aren't smooth, and they're not as nicely rounded, but they're big, from 6-11mm. I only have a handful though and need to build up to a bracelet or necklace.
