I just bought this diamond, and was wondering what the experts think? As well, how much would you expect this diamond to list for in a store?

Is the crown height ok? Does it sound like a good performing diamond?

Thanks

Round Stone
1.27ct
diameter 7.07mm
meas: 7.05-7.10 x 4.20 mm
crown angle 32.7
crown height 12.3
pavilion angle 41.2
pavilion depth 43.6
culet 0.6%
table size 61.5%
total depth 59.5%
girdle thick 0.9-1.6
medium facetted
polish:excellent
symetry very good
clarity vs2
Fluorescence none
color F

Still need some information to determine price, but assuming that it does not have GIA cert or AGS cert as this cut would normally be sent to other labs. The stone is not what it considered the top 3 levels for cutting, SuperIdeal, Ideal, Premium, which are loose terms. It may in fact be a very pretty diamond as it has good color and clarity. Depending on some more information, you could see a swing of $3000 to $5000 difference on this type of stone from place to place. Also check when the cert was done. If your table and depth % were reversed it sells 3 times as fast.

I'm no expert, but to get a sense of how this stone might compare to others, you can enter the dimensions in the DIY (do it yourself) calculator at www.gemappraisers.com, and try the Holloway Cut Advisor (see cut adviser link at top of page).

Plugging in to the HCA with the angles it ranks a 2.9 and plugging in the % it ranks a 3.4

From the Sarin report shows a AGS2. Why the difference.

By the way, it is GIA cert...

If I live to be 102, I will never understand why people wait until *after* they purchase to gather opinions.

I'd guess this stone would go for around $8K but not above $9K.

And the really sad part is that kind of mindset seems prevalent in relationships, too. The fact-gathering period is almost completely glossed over…and we jump into a perceived commitment (if you can even call it that) when we don’t even know what we are committing to. Immediate gratification, impulse…whatever you want to deem it – I think it’s because much of society today treats everything as disposable or returnable. My poor deceased parents would be proud that I finally get it…Boy, am I getting old or what!?

AGS proportions and the score on the HCA are two different things. And AGA is yet another thing.

Basically, three varying ways of grading cut. So the results are comparable, but the numbers don't mean the same thing.

Top cut grade would be:

<2 on the HCA
1A or 1B on AGA
0 for AGS

Variation in HCA score comes from using angles vs. percentages. Angles are more precise.

Hope that makes sense...
