I just pulled the trigger on a ring and stone from Whiteflash.com The only friend I could ask about this is in for a big surprise so I cant ask her. Here are the specs:
1.785 ct I VS2 Whiteflash ACA Hearts and Arrows Super Ideal Round Cut Loose Diamond and the 4 Prong Heavy tiffany Solitaire Engagement Ring
all for about 15k.
Renee at Whiteflash was a tremendous help with picking everything out. All I knew going in was 15k, platinum and round. Renee and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful and courteous and really took the time to explain all the differences.
I went to the office on Richmond Ave. in Houston, which just happened to be convenient for me, and spent over an hour with Bryan Boyne and looked at probably 50 stones. We sat in his office under normal fluorescent lighting and then BLING! He layed them out all over the table for me and lined up the different colors and then different sizes. Bryan and Renee was super patient with me and answered all my "technical" questions about stones, settings, and certifications.
After the initial meeting I felt like this place was legit, and would be a great place to buy a really high quality stone. I looked at a few other online retailers and couldn't find as good of a deal on the AGS Certified stones. So I called Renee back and told her what I was thinking and in minutes she picked out about 6 great stones and then it was up to me. The setting selection was another interesting process. I gave Renee a very whiny, wish washy, non-technical description of what I wanted so she sent me a couple, and I said stuff like "part of this one is cool, but that part of the other one is stupid" and with in a few minutes we had it figured out!
So anyway, just pulled the trigger and swiped the card. Now the normal "Buyers Remorse" is kicking in probably because I haven't seen it yet.
Does this sound like a good deal to everyone?
Am I getting Ripped off?
Should I have shopped more?
Thanks for the help PS!!
