Hey Guys,

I just purchased a ring yesterday for my soon to be fiance and I would like to have some reassurance as to how well of a job I did.

Yesterday I purchased a 2.15 Radiant Cut (Rectangular: 6.22 x 7.01 x 4.29), H-color, VS1 diamond. Here are some of the specifics:
Depth: 61.2%
Table: 67%
Girdle: Thin to Medium
Cutlet: None
Polish: Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Length to Width: 1.18
Traditional Depth: 61.2%
Visible Surface Area: 54.8
Adjusted Depth: 56.5%
Ajusted Crown Height 10.0%
Adjusted Pavilion Depth: 45.2%
Flourescense: None

The final sales price was: $16,955.

Was this a fair price? Also I would like to know more about H color. I compared the diamond to a 2.01 G VS1 and the jeweler wanted $19,500. To be honest I could not see much of a difference, if any comparing the color. So I went with the H and saved some $$$. Was this smart? Is there much of a color difference between a G and H? Please let me know what you all think? I could not sleep last night. I was thinking I may have made the wrong decision. Also did I pay too much? But I tend to be a nervous person.
Thanks.

Honestly, I think it really comes down to what the ring looks like. You can have all the specs in the word, but if you look at the diamond and think that it''s beautiful, then nothing else matters. Plus you were able to go a little bigger, which never hurts! Don''t lose any more sleep!!

Well, from a quick PS search the price is a bit high, but that''s the expected trade-off for the security and face-to-face service of a local B&M. Plus, we can definitely tell if your stone is a much better cut or not. Is it gorgeous to you? If so, that''s really all that counts.

It''s a Grossbard Original Radiant isn''t it????

It''s got a big table, so I am figuring you have a very brilliant stone with white random sparkles just peering up at you, huh?

It''s actually not a bad price for a 2ct+ stone. Original Radiants command a premium from the generics because they cut standards are always under 70%. It just becomes a matter of liking the quality of the stone (color, clarity) and then if you like squarer or more rectangular, as well as one with a deeper pavillion or one with a shallower pavillion...

Like yours, mine is shallower, and I like the WHITENESS that comes from the brilliance. My guess is your call was good in doing that, so perhaps your stone will look whiter slightly than a normal H, and show less yellow tinge...

All the best and CONGRATS!!!! PLEASE PLEASE post pictures!!!!!
