Just bought a diamond.... buyer''s remorse?

It''s a marquise, .54ct, G, VS2... 8.85 x 4.21 x 2.20. I plan to set it with 2 sapphire pears on the side. Please tell me i need another diamond ring...

How exciting! Where did you get the diamond? Do you have the sapphires already, or is that your next purchase? WG, YG, or platinum? You can never have too many rings...you can just "rotate the stock!"

You know, I wish there''s a way to attach different sidestones , and still have it look good. That would make things so much easier.

I got it from my jeweler, who bought it off one of his clients... so the price was fantastic!! It didn''t come with a grading report, but he said he''s willing to get it graded if I want, but i didn''t think it was worth it because the cost would increase the stone''s price. He grades it at a F-G/VS1-VS2, but said G/VS2 just to be safe. Since I have good eyes and can spot color & inclusions like a hawk (didn''t see anything), and I trust him, I took his word.

Bet you wanna know how much it cost?? get this... $550!!! woohoo!!!

Anyway, he''s searching for the perfect sidestones, so it''ll be a while before i get the ring done. I''m so excited!!

My jeweler''s looking for the sapphires, but if i find them on my own it''s fine too. I would like them to be about 4 x 3mm, royal blue... set in white gold. Don''t like the way platinum patinas, and I have not needed to re-rhodium plate any of the rings he made me. He must use palladium? They''re all still as white as my platinum rings, but without the dull look.

You bet that''s a screaming deal!!! He''s about to retire... or has been trying to for a while now but his clients wont let him... so he doesn''t really care anymore. Someone came in with it to trade up, so he''s like, "eh, you want it? take it, I don''t want to deal with it!" So i said heck yeah! I was actually looking for a pear or an oval, since i already have a marquise, but i just love that shape so much!!

I just told my mom, and i could hear her shaking her head over the phone... *not another one...*

I''m such a dork... since I couldn''t wear a loose diamond, i make a cut-out of what the ring would look like on a post-it, colored in the sapphires, and stuck it on my finger so I can "test it out".... my co-workers think i''m nuts!

So what do you guys think of this: pave diamonds on 2.5mm shank, 3/4 of the way down... or ritani style? I might get sick of ritani tho... decisions, decisions!
