JA: Is it important to get an independant appraisal prior to 30 days?

I am sending the e-ring from JA to Chicago. I wont be returning back to Canada until after the 30 day return policy. Should I get an appraisal out in Chicago? Then get one when I return back to Canada so that I can get insurance for it?

JA is a reputible dealer here so I''m thinking I might be able to wait to get it just appraised in Canada for insurance purposes.

Some US appraisers will provide a Canadian replacement or insurance appraisal. I believe Richard Sherwood mentioned he did this on the boards before (he is not in Chicago though). You will have to confirm with your insurance company if they will accept this. If the answer is yes, that is the way I will go - get an appraisal in the US that can be used for Canadian insurance. I had troubles finding a decent appraiser in Toronto, Canada.
