MissStepCut, what makes you want to reset? Your ring is so pretty and classic. Your diamond is wonderful, so you will have a pretty ring whether or not you reset.

I never really wanted this setting. I settled for it because my dream carre & trap setting was not in the budget, and then it came out half round instead of knife edged like I had originally intended. I do really like the "truth" head but it's not my forever setting.

Well it's a gift from a relative who insists it be directed to the purchase of a ring, so socking it away isn't an option. If it were I would probably put it toward a Stokke stroller anyway!

I've seen a few sub-$200 colored stone rings on the DB that would do just fine, but if I don't use all of it on the ring, I don't think I'm entitled to the remainder. The gift-giver plans to pay directly. Oh well. There's always more paychecks.

Could you maybe reset into a 3 stone or a halo? That's always my answer for DSS!

A 3 stone emerald cut ring would be amazing! Or maybe traps or baguettes?

My favourite look of all time is an emerald with step cut trap sides. Gummi Bear has that ring. That would help I am sure!

Sorry you're dealing with the dreaded DSS MissStepcut - your ring is really beautiful though and looks so lovely on you - maybe you can sock away a little $ each month towards your dream setting - that way you will feel like you're working towards your goal.

Well, since you have to use the money now, and it's not enough for a larger stone, would it be okay to be towards a re-set that would maximize the look of your current stone. This way, it can hold you over until you've saved up enough for the larger stone and dream setting you've always wanted?

Lots of good suggestions. I wonder how much overall financial waste there would be if I went from this solitaire, to a three-stone with traps, and eventually added the carres I want in a new setting, but keeping the traps? I guess we would only be out the money from my solitaire less what I can sell it for, and the new temp setting for the solitaire plus the traps... doesn't seem *that* crazy. Since I got stud earrings as a gift, I am in the market for a different push present anyway!

I like the idea of adding trapezoids to your setting - would that satisfy for a time? It is hard when we all look at such GORGEOUS bling on PS and everything is so tempting... then to compound it with a new baby and "need vs. want" is hard.

A temp solution could be the addition of side stones (of course a whole new setting would be required...) but that may help - could it be like a push present/upgrade combo??
