I have an iphone and an ipod on the same itunes account. I am going to give the ipod to my nephew but despite spending the last hour googling, I cannot see how to wipe it and remove it from my itunes account without wiping the music from my iphone. Can anyone help?

Lottie, I'm not exactly an expert, but I *think* that you don't actually have your iPhone and and iPod on your iTunes account. The music bought through your iTunes account can be authorized to play on up to 5 computers. However, I believe you can sync the music in the account with as many iPod/iphone devices as you want.

Try this: Have your nephew start his own iTunes account on his own computer if he hasn't done so already. Give him your iPod and have him connect it to his computer. When iTunes asks him if he wants to sync the iPod with this new computer rather than the one it usually syncs to, say yes. This should wipe out everything on the iPod and replace it with the stuff from nephew's iTunes account. You will still sync your iPhone with your account.

Hope this helps, good luck!

iTunes is such a pain in the butt. It's all fun and games until you get a new computer or device.

My mom couldn't understand why so much of her music was "missing." As in it wouldn't sync to her iPod, and in her iTunes library it had the evil "!" by it, meaning the source file couldn't be found. She's been complaining about this for as long as she's had her iPod. I finally was in town and took a look. Then I asked her where she was getting her music. Turns out she was plugging her iPod into her friends' computers and getting music (well, she thought she was). I had to explain to her that you can't do that...and I'm pretty sure she's still confused and wondering where her music is.

I think you have to use SENUTI. It is a program that takes your music from your ipod, downloads it to the program to save it, and then
you can re download to your ipod. That it what I did to solve the problem. Senuti is Itunes backwards which is what the program does.
