So the black spinel from Doug arrived yesterday- I can't tell you how excited I was! Unfortunately, it has been raining here for the past day and a half, so the pics I am including are not of the best quality. I will take some more in the next couple of days, as I want some in the sunlight. It is absolutely STUNNING! I couldn't have asked for a better-looking stone. I love it so much, and I can't wait to get it set! Enjoy the pics- there will be more to come!

Yes, it's really hard to see the luster when the lighting is so poor in your photos. Wait for a nice bright day, and then take some pics!

At least we can see how large it is on your hand. Nice big size!

The picture in your avatar really shows the stone well and it looks perfect! Precision cutting is definitely the way to go when the shape stands out so much. It looks very cool and smooth. I can't wait to see how you set.

My setting will be prong-set (no halo), with a small pave band (maybe around 1.8-2mm?) in diamonds. My wedding set will be two small pave bands flanking the ring, hopefully both with black spinel. It will be after the holidays before I'm able to get the setting process going, though- but I will let you all know as soon as I have something set into motion!
