...and as I said in the Hangout thread, the country changed the line of succession for no reason. Maybe they can go change it back now.

At least it isn't an issue for another 35 yrs or so!

I sympathize with your viewpoint, Deb, but English queens regnant have been generally pretty competant, maybe Mary I excepted. The Dutch have done very well with their string of queens. Where it gets dicey is when lack of a direct heir(ess) results in the crowning of a collateral relative who wasn't raised to expect it -- I'm thinking of Monaco. If there's no bebe, the Casiraghis have to step up to the plate -- a bunch of socialites as far as I know. And the Monaco Prince really does run the place.
