Today the sapphire from Precision Gems' sale arrived in the mail. Sorry MTG. It has many personalities. As Gene said, it is dark. In many lights it shows little of itself. In direct sunlight and even narrow sunlight it is amazing. It photographs like a model, warming up to the camera and the photographer, revealing more of itself as the shoot progresses. It doesn't always look like this, but when it wants to steal your heart it can. Here are many pictures. Sorry there is so much dust.

What an odd stone! I really like stones that are a bit out of the ordinary. Songea sapphires seem to come in the weirdest mixes of colors. I like it!

See how mysterious it looks!
Never boring, oh how wonderful that stone is, n what a great ring it will make!!!! :cheeky:  :cheeky:

Can't help myself here: OMG that Spess Cab !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a very strange looking sapphire but glad it found a good home. With your awesome and unique benchskills, I’m sure you’ll be able to think up something that will play into its strengths (and I can’t wait to see what ideas you come up with :)) ).

It really is an odd, strange, mysterious stone. Once the new year rings in the dead of winter I'll have some time to work with it. Jstar, it IS a weird mix of colors. There is a small oval cone shape zone that is pure and wonderfully red. Sometimes it shows itself alone, others it mixes with the blue; its like a whack-a-mole.
Shiney, the orange stone is a citrine, the last of the citrine I had from faceters.com, so I've been sitting on those for 5 years. It is only a roughed out shape, But I am going to cut it in the same way I did that amethyst recently. Right now it is a whopping 29 carats.
Chrono, I do have the rumblings of an idea stirring for it. I hope the price of gold comes down soon
