I''d be concerned about the girdle..extremely thin would not appeal to me unless a stone was being set in a bezel. And the range of extremely thin to extremely thick doesn''t sound like the cut is great? But I know nothing about emerald cuts. Hope an expert weighs in for you!
which could be great, unless they overpaid.Date: 10/20/2006 9:50:58 AM

I am getting this ring for MUCH less than what the person paid for it and I am getting everything that goes with it.
again, if you aren''t going to use the setting anyway, getting the diamond ''and everything that goes with it'' that may or may not be a great deal. you need to look at what you could get a similar stone for and price it from there. settings can be expensive and if you don''t plan on using this one, you need to look at adding (much) more to your overall cost.Date: 10/20/2006 9:50:58 AM

I am thinking of removing the stone and having it set in some other type of setting, maybe with a halo.
When I said everything that goes with it I mean the certificates and paperwork. I have another stone I would like to have set into that setting. I have an emerald cut blue topaz that would fit according to the jeweler.Date: 10/20/2006 10:13:40 AM

also, as others have mentioned, the extremely thin girdle is concerning. you need to find out how much of the girdle is extremely thin and where. this could pose problems during the setting, unsetting, setting process as well as everyday wear. make sure you know what you are getting!
best of luck whatever you decide.
