is this stone any good?

I looked at the following Princess cut diamond the other day...

RECTANGULAR MODIFIED BRILLIANT

MEASUREMENTS = 5.14 X 4.87 X 3.74 MM
WEIGHT = 0.79 CT
DEPTH = 76.8%
TABLE = 78%
GIRDLE = MEDIUM TO THICK
CULET = NONE
POLISH = GOOD
SYMMETRY = GOOD
CLARITY = VVS2
COLOR = F
FLUORESCENCE = NONE

They want $2900 for this diamond. I''ve been driving myself nuts trying to find something with a lower depth and table percentage. Should I get a better price for this stone and/or should I find something better. Anything I should be looking for specs wise? Thanks.

what you have is not cut bad. according to AGA charts if it has a 7% crown height it is a 2b. Are you sure that she really wants a princess cut? they have a bad habit of breaking at the corners, all though the size of the girdle may stop that from happening. Price seems OK. Are you an engineer? Why worry about it that much. You don't have to wear it, just look at it for the next 50 years. If she likes it what should you care. Take her shoping with you.

Are you specifically looking for a rectangular princess?
Are you looking for a specific size? color? clarity? under "x" $s?

The .79 you listed i'm just not diggin

the depth, the table, "just" good symmetry...

There's a few in WF's expert selection that i'd choose over the .79 - like this one w a nice idealscope shot & great crown height .70 F VS2 for $2680 before the PS discount... and this .70 F VS1 for $2850 before PS discount which faces up bigger than the VS2. And, finally, this DCD .85 G VVS2 signature series diamond for $3177

i'm not looking specifically for a rectangular princess. square or rectangular is fine by me. the size i'm looking for is anything from 0.70-0.80ct. color from E-G. clarity from VVS2-VS1. i don't really want to spend more than $3500 for the center stone. that 0.85 from DCD looks very tempting though.
