Is this setting dangerous?

I am obsessing over this antique setting, but part of me thinks that it exposes the diamond too much. The diamond that is set in it is an M color, so I think the side stones would work well with my warm J stone. I love the antique feel, but since my stone was just reset in a very safe setting, I have gotten used to the safety of it. Opinions? Feel free to comment on it in terms of safety and aesthetics.
For reference, here is my current setting:

I like your current setting a lot. I wouldn't choose that antique setting as I like the solidity and the general look of your current ring. It looks fab with those bands, too.

Both settings have different looks and I like both looks. In terms of safety, setting 2 is as safe as other 4 prongs settings, though maybe slightly more exposed than your current one. Why not pick something else if you're worried? Are you the one whose jeweler allows you to upgrade settings and even give store credit when there's excess? I read a post like that but can't remember the poster. If so, you're so lucky. You can change settings whenever you please.

What is your definition of "dangerous"? It certainly holds the diamond safely but the diamond is set high with a lot of girdle and pavilion exposure, thus may not be a good choice for a stone with an extremely thin to thin girdle.

I don't know, it's a really pretty setting but I just think the diamond is a bit too exposed - it's set pretty high, too. I have this worry about knocking my diamond so I might not be the right person to ask! The one thing that bugs me about my setting is the stone is set a bit high and I obsess over hitting the girdle on something. I think I'd be a little stressed out wearing the setting you're considering.

Yes, I'm that poster. However, this is an antique setting and it's not from my jeweler, so this would not be a trade :(( so I may have to pass on it.

Chrono, Junebug: Yes, it's the exposure that concerns me because I have never owned a setting which has the stone sit so high and exposed. I am clumsy and I tend to knock my ring around every once in a while, which is why I was asking for advice.
