Hello,

I am looking for an engagement ring and ran onto this add online. After reading several reviews about "leo" diamonds I realize they are generally over-prized and not properly appraised with the correct organizations. That being said, this is a used ring, that I can purchase for 2,200 dollars. Is it worth it(I realize you can not appraise via the internet but In general with certifications)

Also, for me, an inclusion or two or lack of pure white color is not my primary concerns. I just don't want to be ripped off.
Thanks in advance for the help. I am ignorant about the subject.

Here is the posting

This is a solitaire diamond engagement ring. It is a Leo Diamond with Leo Band. The band is 14k white gold with a platinum head. Absolutely beautiful. Just had inspected and cleaned last month. Clearest and most shiny ring I saw in the store. It is .75 karat. SV1 in clarity. The diamond is laser etched with serial number. It is certified. Ring also has lifetime extended warranty so it can be sized as well. Can't remember the rest but I will post a picture of the certificate of the diamond after I get it out the safety deposit box and that has more details on it. I paid $5,013 for this in the store. Asking $2750 OBO

They have agreed to 2,200 for purchase.

Thanks again

You need to look at the certificate, and also find out the colour.

It's very hard to tell from what you're posted.

Agreed--

Thanks! So the seller has all paperwork. I will take the ring for appraisal soon. If it appraises for lets say 2,000, that means it worth 2,000 or can only be insured for that amount? Basically do I pay for what it appraises for or less/more.

I will see if I could post the certifications.

Thanks so much,

I am by know means an appraiser, so please someone with more experience feel free to chime in here. Appraisals can mean very different things. You can insure the ring for whatever you want, but an appraisal should be an independent evaluation of what you can reasonably ask for or replace the ring for in today's market.
