Is this ring a good deal or a crappy investment? HELP

I found a ring I'm absolutely in love with-- a 3 stone with 3 .5ct rounds. I spent an hour and a half admiring it from every angle before I noticed that two of the stones have visible cloud inclusions. I think the reason it took me so long to notice even at close range is that the stones are cut really well and they are *dazzling*!! The inclusions do not seem to interfere with the light reflection.

I'm confused-- the ring seems like a good deal, is stunning and exactly what I want (stone wt, setting)! BUT I don't want to have broken stones in the future (seems unlikely as the inclusions do not touch the surface of the stones) or simply make a bad investment. No one else is going to notice the inclusions unless they put their face in my ring (so pretty much only my mom). I'm never going to try to sell the thing or have it reset. The diamonds are from Canada and it's really a one-off, so I kind of have to decide now.

It's about $2700 and it's an I color and...I clarity. I know, I know, jump on me now for the clarity grade. But before you do, tell me where I could get a better deal with better diamonds and I'm all over it-- and we can't go to Whiteflash and put a ring together, it's totally out of our price range. Thanks in advance for all the great answers you all give :))

I don't have a problem with I clarity if the price is right and you like it enough to overlook it.
What do you mean by "investment"?

I mean I don't want to spend a cent on it if they're junky diamonds and I'm just being sucked in by the blue store lighting. Am I better off continuing to look for the same price with better stones? Will I even find that or am I kidding myself into diamond sim land (I hope not)?

Well, you mentioned that the stones are I color and I clarity, but you didn't mention if they come with a grading report. The problem with trying to price-shop is that if those stones aren't certed from a reputable lab, then you have no way of knowing what comparable to research ya know?
Can you buy it with a return policy and have it appraised and ask for the market value?

I can return the ring. There IS no cert report for these diamonds...shady? Do visible inclusions look cloudy in the sun if the diamond is cut correctly? I too have no prob with I clarity if the cut is nice and quite frankly some of the diamonds in that place looked like what you guys call "frozen spit" even though the cut was supposedly better. Maybe I'm just afraid that if someone like you puts this thing under a loupe it's gonna be right back to the drawing board for me! LOL

There is this option at WF:

http://www.whiteflash.com/engagemen...tone-trellis-diamond-engagement-ring-1428.htm

I'm not sure if those are 0.50 ctw each side stones or 0.50 tctw, but if its 0.50 ctw, maybe talk to them and see if they can put another in the middle for $1000 or less.

Or you could try this:

with

http://www.eternitydiamonds.com/diamond_detail.php?id=660473
http://www.eternitydiamonds.com/diamond_detail.php?id=605466
(I'm not very good at picking out rounds, so I don't know how good these are if they would work together.)

I'm not sure if the setting price includes the side diamonds, but if it does, then you might even be able to knock a little bit off of it. It wouldn't hurt to send them an e-mail.

Or, maybe I should have checked the forums about the reliability of this vendor before I posted! Too good to be true

I'm not loving that option that you have posted, not sure one the seller either. Here is a ring in the preloved section that is a leo, the center stone is bigger but the way the stones are set it doesn't look different than the one you bought, to me anyways :twirl:

I would totally snatch up the one farmer gal posted!

Thanks everyone for looking for me...and HOLY MOLY farmer gal!!! What a find! I love it. Says that the diamonds are "stated to be SI1 SI2"...can I trust Leo diamonds? Because I don't really trust Kay's (although I hate to admit they do have some nice stones there).

I would ask the seller if she has gotten an indepedent appraisal on the ring. As far as quality I think it would be a great step up for you at a good price :twirl:

yep. Is there a report?? Then you can price compare how much three .5 ct stones are selling for in that color, clarity, and cut range
