Hello,
To make a long story short, I was proposed to with a 1.01 round in a plain basic white gold setting. My wonderful guy knew I was going to get a different ring so I started shopping. I ended up with a Verragio set, but when it came in I didn't like how it looked on my hand. I did tell them how I felt but the saleslady said basically nothing could be done...more on that is a minute.
So I ended up with yet another ring, which I thought I liked until I went to a re-mount show and ended up with the one I have on right now. It's nothing at all like the other two. I went from 14k to platinum and also I don't have a band with this one. I was actually married with a Tiffany sterling silver band.
So the point of this is why can I not be happy with any of my rings? I think the one I have now is the one, but I'm so indecisive that I'm still a little anxious and now writing about it.
Has anyone else had this problem? Not being happy with what you picked out? I seem to like the micro pave that is on my current ring it's actually wrapped around it. When I went back to the place where I bought my Verragio set and tried picking out something else they kept trying to talk me out of the pave style, it's dainty but I liked it.(Tacori) I also ended up talking to the owner of the store, he heard my story and told me he would make things right and basically take all 4 of the rings I had and give me back what I paid for them and I could get the ring of my choice. The one I picked out would have cost me $1700, so I took a few weeks per his request and to my surprise when I went back to pay the $1700 for the the ring I liked it then turned into we have to call Verragio and see how much it's going to cost. Turns out it was to much to have a new ring made and they wouldn't do it and the $1700 the told me about they couldn't remember saying it. SO they are bad bad people who lie and I will badmouth them to whomever will listen.
So with all of the money I have in all of these rings, I could have bought a really perfect ring. If I could go back I would have bought a band that I really like and kept my diamond in the setting it came in.
Looking at the ring that I just got yesterday, I do really like it, I had black diamonds added to the side which I think I will be having changed back to the diamonds it had when I bought it. Now I have to figure out a band, cause I just look engaged when I've been married for over a year. My husband thinks I'm crazy, but is calm and just lets me do whatever I want.
But I have to say I'm pretty tired of feeling this way, and I'm very upset with the store that didn't do what they said they would do. The owner was suppose to call me, I have never heard a peep from him. That's some business wouldn't you say.

Hope someone else can relate?
Brooke

May I ask how long a period of time we're talking about? Have you "lived" with each style long enough to be able to articulate what you like/don't like about it in the hopes of using that info to get to your dream ring? Is the setting the issue or is it the stone? Did you want a round stone? If not, what had you envisioned for yourself?

I got my Verragio engagement ring in May 2011 married with my Tiffany band July 17, 2011 got matching Verragio band Decemeber 2011 and then my second ring after Christmas 2011.The day I picked up my band and wore it home, I knew it was not for me. But when I told the lady the next day she was not willing to even talk to the owner of the store, but looking back the owner of the store said that is exactly what she should have done cause he would have made it right then, instead I just too the Verragio to the store a few months ago to have something else to it, then I ended up telling him my issues. Yet I still have not heard back from him. I just traded my second ring in 2 weeks ago for my new setting and picked it up yesterday. The Verragio was the Venetian Collection and when you looked at it you just saw a bunch of metal even thought it had milgrain and diamonds, it just looked bad on my hand. The second set I liked but it was a six prong and plain I did like the diamonds on the side, but I think I needed something more on the head.
Yes maybe I'm not exactly happy with a round stone, but it's a family diamond and I wouldn't dream of changing through all of the these rings the only question my husband asks is "is that the diamond I bought you?" so needless to say he would not want me to change it either.
The ring I have right now, I do like they added a fleur dy lys to it and it's looks pretty, it's very small but I like it. I think once I find a band I will be content with it, because at this point if I returned this newest ring I would have a large credit at the store and they didn't have anything else I liked. So I have felt stuck from the get go.

Sounds like you just don't know what you want. Some people are just indecisive and not pleased with any choice they make - that's probably just the nature of rings and jewelry in general... there's too many choices! :) I'm VERY indecisive in my daily life... so I know where you're coming from.

The only person that can tell you if the current ring is the right one for you - and that's yourself.

Are you a simplistic person or do you like bling? If you don't know what you want, maybe give it a year and see how you feel in a while.

Hello,

Thanks for the advice. I am also very indecisive in my daily life. I do like some bling, that was the problem with the second set, it was just very plain nothing fancy or unique. I also am realizing that the feel of platinum is very nice it's much heavier (yet comfortable) then 14k and feels great so I am liking that about my new ring. Now the decision is the black diamonds that I added (I actually have a thread on that issue too) so far everyone agrees to forget the black diamond idea so tomorrow I am going back to the store to hopefully get that fixed without any problems.
So I am thinking this is the one, I like it more every time I look at it. :))
I guess part of all this ring stuff is I have so many other things I should be more worried about yet it's like my job to search for the perfect ring! It's like a dang drug. You are right there are so many choices if I keep looking I guess I won't ever be happy with what I have.

You hit the nail on the head, girl! Get your diamonds replaced and hopefully it'll be the one for you!

Just as an objective outside opinion, I very much like your current ring, because not only is it beautiful, but it also really suits your hand. I think sometimes with all the choice out there and in our quest to find the perfect, beautiful ring, it can become easy to lose sight of what actually looks and feels good on us as individuals. If we can keep this in mind, rather than letting our eyes (and frankly greed!) run away with us, we can end up with a piece of jewelery that actually means something, ie along with enjoying its beauty, the ring showcases something of our individuality. This in turn is more likely to help us feel good about ourselves.

Thank you for the nice response. That is a great way to look at it. I think because I have had so many different rings that is was starting to take away from the meaning of it all, being married to my great husband. By adding the fleur dy lys I think that is the thing that finally made it "mine". Also by having the white diamonds back I think it will be perfect.

Thanks again,
Brooke

This is so lovely. I can't wait to see the shots of your ring when it comes back from having the diamonds added.

Happy to report that I stopped by yet another re-mount show yesterday and everything I looked at was very close to my ring.
So I think it is the one!!!

That is great, Brooke! Many of us who stick around here too long end up changing rings and even diamonds because there is always something new and better that comes along! My advice to you is to get this ring fixed and then STOP looking at settings!!! I haven't disliked any I have had, but unfortunately I like more than one thing!!!

That is my plan to stop looking, thank you for confirming it. I'm even thinking of holding off on the band for now until I can figure out exactly what I want so I'm not in the same situation with bands.
I am really looking forward to getting my ring back.

Thanks
Brooke

Yep it's the one, I love it!!! Search is over.

YAY! Glad you made a decision! It's beautiful and looks great on you! Its so unique as well!!! I have never see anything like it, but it works for you dear! :appl:

Your ring looks gorgeous from every angle. I love the side profile with the fleur-de-lis head surrounded by an elegant "neckline' of diamonds. It looks superb on your finger.

I feel crazy to admit this, but now I am feeling guilty about the money for this ring. So much so that I am thinking of returning it....wtf is wrong with me? It's actually upsetting me for some reason?

I'd just urge caution luvsdmb, any change now may result in potentially throwing even more money at a ring in the future. Sometimes spending more money now can save money later. The ball's in your court though, if you can answer yourself honestly, that after having this ring, you would very happily return it and settle for a simpler, cheaper ring and you stick with that then you really will have saved money. Otherwise probably not.

Being honest with myself, I can not keep this ring because of how much it's costing me. So I went today and I should be hearing what my options are on Monday. I think (and really hoping) that I will be able to keep the detail I had added and the double claw prongs and somehow get this on another ring....since it is the part of the ring that I love.....I will maybe be losing platinum for 14 or 18 and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I have a week to figure things out what I really want.
I'm so tired of thinking about this stuff.

Thanks for your advice.
