Is this Old European or Modern Brilliant?

Hi everyone,

New member here.

I'm looking at this ring, and it's advertised as OEC.

But it looks more like a modern Brilliant to my untrained eye, or maybe some transitional style in between?

Can anyone tell just by looking at it the exact type of cut it is?

Thanks so much!

Most definitely not modern brilliant. Looks like a transitional cut to me.

Thanks so much, msop!

Can you please explain to me how to tell that it's transitional?

Is there something about the way the facets are shaped?

Thanks again!

Modern round vs Transitional round (arrows are much fatter and there is usually an open culet - not shown on this image)

No problem! :wavey:

OEC's have different patterns. Some have flowery petals, while other are blockier or have checkerboard-like patterns...

A agree with the others it could be a really beautiful transitional stone (in between time wise a RB and an Old European cut) or a Old European Cut with hearts and arrows (all that means is that it is well cut!!!). It looks to be a really nice stone in your pics.
