is this fabulous or is it just me?

I like it. :-) I like those wide marquis diamonds, too. I don't like the 2:1 ones.

Wow! I am not a fan of marquis cut stones, but I love this one!

BTW, if I had 10K to spend, I'd be spending it on myself. :wink2:

Although I have an eternity band of 5 ctw . I am just not a fan of marquis as an solitare engagement ring. That being said it looks like a nice stone although it has good symmetry and very good polish. Everything I read on these boards you are better off with a more ideal cut. But if that is what you love you should find a sugar daddy to buy it or you. As you should be happy LOL :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

Me to orbaya I want a pink and yellow pave diamond stacking rings

You can't judge a marquise based on cut and Polish like you would a round. No "ideal".

I'd consider it in a year or two if I didn't know you can get marquise so much cheaper used. I wish k knew how to find cheap preloved ones :((

Plus I'm the "sugar daddy in this relationship

nielseel,

I'm fond of "rovals" so I like that chubby marquise. I don't like the longer ovals or marquises, either.

I wish there was a cute word for round marquise like roval.

Yep, "marchunque" or "chunquise" don't quite have the same cachet as "roval."

Gee, I think we've just discovered a new word to describe my body type!!! hahahaha!!

Since we're talking make believe here - how would you set it if it were yours?

Sweet, I love the side stones! The whole thing reminds be a bit of a fleur de lis. I thought that you might bezel it to emphasize the fancy shape.

Usually I'm all about the bezel for solitaire fancies bit I'm on a three stone kick lately

I'm so with you on this one - love the stone and setting! It would be so elegant. Sigh.

I know that I don't regret going with a round diamond (and it's the only shape my bf liked), but every time I see a fancy shape diamond in a ring, I get a little jealous.

If you ever find a plethora of marquises or other fancies on the secondary market, be sure to let the rest of us know.

nielseel,

If you were in the market for a really ugly, really overpriced marquise diamonds, you'd be in hog heaven on ebay. I didn't see anything I'd wear!

they probably only had a round mounting and assume "why not!"

im thinking probably the best way to find one is to find a broach

Yes, looks fab to me. Nice small table. .... but my favorite marquis are the old chunky cut ones with a culet.

Marquis aren't selling that well these days. If you really want one I would buy one used. I talked to jeweler who said he can hardly give them away these days.

My daughter saw one in the movie The Great Gatsby and wants one....she didn't even know what the cut was called. She had to draw the shape for me...HA!

Wow, I did a quick search and prices have gone up a ton in the secondhand market for GIA graded diamonds. I bought a 0.90ct GIA E VVS2 fatty marquise in a pave platinum setting for $2100 back when I first buying diamonds on ebay... must have been 2004 or so. Think retail back then was about $4000 for just the diamond. I stopped wearing it because I got my 0.76ct D marquise set E-W and that one had better spread, so I sold the 0.90 to my aunt a couple of months ago.

It is fabulous

Have always loved this setting--so much so that it is on my seriously considering list--for the moment that is, we all know how that can change!!! Here are some saved pic's, not sure who it belongs too, but I admire it :lickout: :lickout:
