I am still hunting for a good diamond.

Can the collective experts please weigh in on this one.

I used cut advisor and it has a rating of 1.2 - the only thing I''m worried about is the cloud in the center.

Cloudy?

Thanks again in advance for your opinions...

It''s VVS2. Pretty much by definition, there''s no way you''ll see that without magnification. For reassurance, you can call BN and ask if it''s eyeclean, but beware that they do not have this diamond in house and there will be a delay before they get back to you (during which time the diamond can sell, which happened to me a couple of times with BN). With VVS clarity, though, there should be no way at all that you could see the cloud.

that must be one tiny cloud to get vvs2.
no issues with it.

wlee - If this stone has rec''d a VVS2 rating, I absolutely agree with Milton ... you shouldn''t be able to see any inclusions at all without magnification and even then, it might be a challenge to see it.

If you want to know for certain, without being able to see it yourself, I second Milton''s suggestion to ask the vendor to take a look for you and confirm your inquiry.

This looks really nice!

I agree - with a VVS2 the cloud will not be noticeable. You might even have a hard time seeing the cloud with magnification. Since the diamond also received exellent cut grade and polish, you should be fine! Looks like a beauty. Congrats on your find.

BTW - you might want to reserve this diamond if you are interested in it. Someone else could snap it up while you are considering it.

One follow up question - Blue Nile sent an appraisal for insurance purposes for almost 10,000 more than I paid for it. Now I''d rather not get it insured for that much money and pay the extra premium. If it costs 25k, and I needed to replace it with a worth of 35k, I can probably find one for 25k is the way I figure it. Should I just go and get an independent appraiser to assess?

This forum was very very helpful!

Either an independent appraiser or insure it for what you paid for it. In either case, I''d suggest adding inflation coverage so you do have enough to replace it should it get lost seven years from now.
