Hi , can anyone tell me if this looks like any citrine that you have seen ? It was sold to me over 30 years ago as one but I got it out and was looking at it and it seems to have a peachy tone sometimes and a red tone sometimes it really different:) anyways if someone has an idea I’d appreciate it . Thank you :) B7AE059E-5EF1-4CEE-B0ED-D08689B4297A.png 33F97D44-A970-4EDF-B924-CC5306205294.png 70C1A492-7227-4CBE-8F18-E50E30ED3626.png 0AC18722-35E7-4466-A9E8-30FBF278FAFC.jpeg 86BD64DB-3829-4F0B-93C2-BF4AA65B5958.jpeg C44CCC5B-56D2-4030-A9BB-BD147741F2C1.jpeg B3359CB3-455C-407E-9A08-B9154EEF606C.png

Personally I believe it is more likely to be a Garnet.

However I am not an expert, and I doubt if anyone can confirm the type of stone based on photos alone.

DK :))

It may be a fire citrine. There were a few around about 20 years ago, haven't seen one in ages...

There is a dark orangey/red Citrine called Madeira Citrine.

FWIW the posted photos remind me more of Hessonite Garnet.

Just going to say there is Madeira Citrine that can be this color. Not often, but possible.

Looking at the inclusions in the first picture I do not think this is a Citrine. Most Citrine is very clean.

It may very well be Hessonite.

Its very pretty anyway and i don't usually like red stones

If its not Citrine does this mean you will now be on the look out for a piece of citrine jewlery for your jewel box ?

Som red kind of pyrope or almandine garnet, or a combination of the two.

I was searching those today and it does seem similar , I’ll head over to the jewelers this coming week and see what she thinks and maybe can test it . I like it either way but I would like to know what it is .

Citrine is the yellow variety of Quartz. It can be lemon to orangish In colour.
Your gemstone is most likely Garnet. Garnet actually comes in a few colours and they have different names and slightly chemical composition.
A deeper reddish type could be pyrope garnet, if reddish to brownish could be Almandine garnet and if reddish Orange could be Hessonite garnet.
