also. Is the stone testing for tourmaline or Emerald? IMG_2289.jpeg

Not sure about the branding, but it looks like tourmaline v emerald to me. It definitely looks abraded too. It's bulkier than Van Craeynest usually is as well to my eye.

I would think Van Craeynest would have a hallmark in it?

it does i think

if you hit it with Long Wave UV does it glow red ?

Muzo emeralds have a hidden element to their color – and it is red! Though invisible to the eye, all emeralds from Colombia have a natural red fluorescence due to the very low concentration of chemical impurities in the geologic makeup of the emerald. The word Charm is the only word to describe this subtle but real effect: the red fluorescence, though invisible, charms your eye and is the reason the world comes to Muzo and Colombia for the finest emeralds.

would love to see that center stone after a cleaning / repolish.... Has to be a quality Colombian... no-ones putting "blah" in that setting

I had no idea you could repolish an emerald!

you would want someone who knows what they are doing to do..... Also they could determine if it was orig oiled or not.... and re-treat it...

the one in the ring looks like it has be loved / worn in that ring for many years....

but why would anyone years ago have put a Tourmaline in a High End setting ?

Why wouldn't they? Plenty of high-end pieces have had tourmaline centers:

Why are we assuming it's antique? When did they begin to use K vs CT? I don't necessarily see this as a vintage item just because the company has been around for many years. The hallmark isn't particularly warm, either.

I've owned one with a "14k" stamp and an 18ct stamp. 14k is more contemporary if speculate the k is possibly more recent, but mostly speculation. Lol

Also the double prong seems suggestive of a modern item.
