Hi everyone,
I have been looking to upgrade my first pair of diamond studs. They're 1.20ctw G VS2. I bought them at a time when I just joined PS and didn't know better about lower colours and clarity.
Fortunately, I got really lucky; they are beautiful stones, really blazing, firey and flashy all the time!
Now in order to upgrade, I'm willing to drop down the colour and clarity, after seeing how my BGD J coloured 0.98ctw studs have performed.
So I managed to find one stone that fits my criteria... UP in size, Down in colour and clarity. I realised that the crown angle of the bigger stone is a little steep at 35.00deg. Will the performance be inferior compared to my current stones? Should I trade in one of my 0.6GVS2 stones for this?
Also, I know this has been discussed many times over... but G looks really white on my ears, and my J studs which are encased in a yellow gold bezel look warm white. Will the warmth of a J come through very clearly in a stone of this size? Phoenix's studs keep coming to mind when I'm convincing J is the way to go with the upgrade!!
New stone:
0.92 J SI2
Width: 6.24mm
Length: 6.21mm
Depth: 3.85mm
Table Percentage: 57.00%
Depth Percentage: 61.90%
Crown ∠: 35.00°
Pavilion ∠: 40.80
Cutlet : 0.02mm
Old stones:
Width: 5.43mm 5.41mm
Length: 5.47mm 5.43mm
Depth: 3.33mm 3.35mm
Table Percentage: 55.90% 55.90%
Depth Percentage: 61.10% 61.80%
Crown ∠: 34.30° 34.50°
Crown Depth: 14.90% 15.00%
Pavilion ∠: 40.80° 40.80°
Pavilion Depth: 43.00% 43.00%
Cutlet : 0.02mm 0.02mm
Thanks for your input.
