Is this a good time to buy plane tickets to Europe?

I''m getting ready to buy a ticket on American Airlines for our trip to Europe. The only reason I''m using AA is because our friends are giving us a free plane ticket with their unrestricted miles on American. We would just need to buy the second ticket. With tax and fees we''re looking at about $1500.00 RT to Paris. Considering that counts as ''two'' tickets I thought that was a good price since airfares have NOT been cheap in awhile.

Is this really a good time to buy though or does anyone think the fares may go down? We are looking to go at the end of May to Paris, then Greece so I''m trying to get this worked out soon.

Ditto...I''d wait if you can, the flights will likely go down.

That does seem very high. I just checked expedia and from my city (seattle), there were a bunch of flights under $1,000.

Yeah it seems high to me too but as I was saying with one free plane ticket I thought that may be a decent deal if say one ticket at a discounted rate was close to 1k making two tickets closer to 2k. I'm flying from San Francisco. How long to wait though since I'm trying to plan a 20 day trip end of May to June?

I just did a www.kayak.com search and the lowest airfare from San Francisco was 1146.00 for the May/June dates.

This time of year is cheap. Try searching for end of May to mid-June. I see airfare in the 1500 dollar range on kayak from Seattle. Crazy!
