I have a 2.93 carat pear shaped stone which I have always thought was a beautiful stone. Now that I have found this site and read through the tutorial I am not sure how to determine the cut class using the pear shapes chart. Is it possible to determine crown height % from a gia cert?Any help would be appreciated. These are the stats on the G.I.A. stone....Measurements...13.00 x 8.06 x 4.94 mm... weight 2.93 caret

....depth 61.3%... table 60%...girdle - medium to very thick faceted... culet-small.. polish-good... symmetry-good... clarity grade-VS2... color grade- F... fluoescence...none.

It is not possible the determine the pavilion height from a GIA cert... However, given the data available, this could be a top cut (as AGA defines it). Such a small table could hardly allow for a very flat pavilion: and as log as the stone could hardly 'fall' below 1B, I would not worry further about those numbers... I guess an appraiser could determine this, if you do want them.

Did you get to play with one of those Ideal Scopes ? There are not too many pears with such light return signature displayed as a merit, given that brilliant pears are seldom seen. Yours seems to be unusually well cut ! I am sure you get a fair share of congratulations for this stone, but here's one more!
