Is this a good price for a men''s platinum band?

The band is 14 grams, pre-owned, and the seller wants $550.

Pt trading price on Kitco is at 1250 USD per oz, 14g is roughly 0.5oz, so looks like raw metal price to me.

The seller did ask me a lot of questions about engagement, my rings, etc, and I think he is trying to make sure I won''t scrap it. I think he wants someone to get some use from it.

It''s from a high end jeweler here in town and he has a sapphire hidden on the inside of the band.
