Hello. I have to admit that I have been lurking around here for a while prior to today and am amazed at what experts most of you are. Over the past weekend I have become a step closer to buying a ring for my girlfriend. She originally wanted a three stone (.75+1.5+.75) with platinum setting until she saw a bigger version (arrrggghhh!) on Sunday which was:
1+2+1 configuration, round diamonds (4ctw)
H color, VS1 clarity
Platinum setting
Price quoted: $29,600
On the main facet of the 2 ct. stone were two light .75 mm linear scratches, visualized with the naked eye. It wouldn''t be noticible to anyone if they weren''t looking at it hard (My eyesight is 20:40, so I might pick up things a bit more easy). It certainly is beautiful, but I can''t get my girlfriend reinterested in the smaller arrangement, even though the bigger set looks a little out of proportion with her longer, thinner fingers. I have been quoted 40-47,000 for the same 2+4+2 config at the store''s other branches, but with better quality stones. I was only planning to spend under $20k, but now it seems that my gf would be unhappy with anything less. Can anyone please tell me if I should find better quality stones for the same $29,600 price, and which stores I might start looking at? I would be greatly appreciative.
Regards,
Kurt
