Hello everyone, I was looking to buy a heart shaped diamond. I have been searching for something around $3,000. Is an SI2 a bad choice? Can you see the inclusions without magnification? Also, is this a good deal?

Firstly, dirt cheap diamonds is reputable. They may not have the diamond THERE, though, which would make this much harder. I don't know anything about heart-shaped stones, so you'll probably want to look at Dave Atlas' fancy-cut grading charts.

To quote another member of this board: "I have a piece of string. How long is it?" Meaning, you probably want some more information on this, like crown height, and pictures of the inclusions, and someoe to tell you if this is in fact eye-clean.

Call up DCD, see what they say. I know heart-shapes are hard to find, so you may want to get it shipped to an independent appraiser so you can evaluate it, or just move on and look for a stone with more information on it (like an idealscope image, so you can see how much light is getting returned, and how much is getting leaked.)
