Please help to take a look at this rock... Complete spec is

F, VS2, 0.85ct, faint fluore
diam: 6.07 mm (6.05-6.09)
depth: 61.6%
table: 57.3%
crown: 34.6 degree (34.4-34.8)
pavil: 40.9 degree (40.8-41.0)
culet: 0.6%
girdle: 2.3% (2.0-2.6)

1. I have been looking at medium girdle around 1.5%. Is 2.3% too much dead weight?

2. I also looked at this diamond using ideal scope... It seems there is a light pink ring around the table, kinda likes the red figure on this page http://diamonds.pricescope.com/agsideal.asp Is that normal, or fisheye''ish? Is fisheye possible with this spec?

Thanks!

Grr, how come no reply???

I assume this is a round... What's the carat weight? How are the polish and symmetry? What's the cert?

From what you posted, it would be a lovely .8ish stone by the numbers, assuming the symmetry is very good or better... The girdle is a little thicker than I might like, but it shouldn't affect performance, only spread, and it's not terrible. Have you seen it in person, and if so, how does it look?

Let's see....It's colorless, it's obviously eye-clean, it's "ideal", and it has an HCA "excellent" score. Assuming that the diamond is AGS or GIA graded, it's a great choice. Good luck....

I modeled those proportions and it seems like a very nice stone.
Because the pavilion crown combination is getting up there a little it is right on the edge of showing some tabale leakage that you have seen with the ideal-scope.
This leakage is about 10% more than in a stone that appears very red in this region (the ideal-scope is very very hard on slight leakage).
You can see what I mean by entering say 41 dregree pavilion, then 41.1 etc - the HCA numbers sky rocket.

The slightly thick girdle is fine. I prefer it to a thin girdle - especially since we have had a rash of chipped diamonds thru the door over the last few months.

Josh why only AGS and GIA?

Have you not read the lab grading survey?
EGL USA and probably lots of other labs lead to a better deal.
So why do you say that?
I thought we exposed that as a myth?

Garry,

I completely agree. I probably should have phrased my wording better in my response to the post. The original post did not state which labratory graded the diamond. So I just assumed that it was GIA or AGS. However, a quality diamond does not necessarily have to be graded by a certain labratory. As long as the customer knows the accurate grade of the diamond as well as value, than it doesn't have to be GIA or AGS graded. So thanks for qualifying that. I definitely don't want to mislead potential buyers.

Hi Garry,

what do you mean "the crown pavillion combination is getting up there"? I thought 34.5 crown is ideal, and this one is just 34.6; 40.8 pavil is ideal and this is just 40.9... Am I off on the ideal measurements? Can 0.1% off ideal leak that much light???
