2.5
F vs2
cutting very good
polish excellent
symmetry very good
no florescent
table 58%
depth 59.4%
crown 32 degree
pavilion 40.4 degree

the HCA score is 1.4 which is not bad but should i insist on excellent cutting?

What certification is this? GIA?

The HCA should only be used as a rough guide to eliminate bad stone. 1.4 seems fine to me. Is there any way you can have a look at the stone in person? It seems a little shallow to me.

hi again lorelei

this is GIA, I will be able to see the diamond in person, just not sure what to look for, under the store lighting, everything could look good.
not sure if idealscope is available
thanks

Do you have any others in mind still? The best advice I can give you perhaps, is to ask if you could check this diamond out away from the store lights to see how it looks, and to make the sale final on getting an independant appraisal. And if you have time to do so, it seems you prefer to look at diamonds in jewellery stores ( which is absolutely fine!) you could order an Idealscope and take it with you to check out diamonds. See here - http://www.ideal-scope.com/cart_order.asp you could get the beginner scope and keep it by you, this will help you to be able to tell how well a diamond is cut.

This is how Idealscope works. https://www.pricescope.com/idealscope_indx.asp

Ditto Lorelei''s advice about buying an Idealscope and examining diamonds away from store lights if at all possible. It''s great that you recognise the store lights will make pretty much anything look sparkly and pretty!

You haven''t mentioned who graded the diamond (GIA, AGSL, EGL?) - this could make a difference as to the accuracy of the clarity/colour grading as some labs have a reputation for being stricter than others.

Lorelei mentioned you have a preference for shopping in stores, but I thought you might like to se this diamond just for comparison (slightly lower colour and size, but awesome cut):

Cleo, a wee trick here! It is likely it is a GIA graded diamond, as there are a few signs in the above post - it doesn't always follow, but it can give you a clue! Firstly the ' cutting - very good' is a grade GIA uses, AGS use different terms for cut grade, also the crown and pavilion angles being noted in angles suggest GIA or AGS ( I think in this case GIA). EGL normally use percents for these, so often it is a fair bet if you see c and p percents, it is an EGL graded rock, or less commonly HRD ( more often seen in Europe than US).

thanks cleo, my heart is for a F color
