I have learned a lot about diamonds over the past couple months and this forum has been incredibly helpful, thank you.

This is for an engagement ring, my gf and I decided we want an eye clean stone with a color no lower than J, I have narrowed down my search to the following diamond after having James Allen pull 3 for me and suggest this one.

I'm not in a big rush and I'd rather have quality over size so I'm wondering if you guys think this is a good diamond of if I shoud wait, get something smaller etc. I'd like to keep the diamond purchase under $15k but can stretch a little.

HCA-2.3
Light Return-very good
Fire-very good
Scintillation-very good

The other 2 diamonds I had them pull for me had HCA ratings under 2 but they said this was by far the best performer, should I be nervous about the 2.3 HCA?

This is the setting I will have it in, from what I've read the difference in color between the center stone and the band shouldn't be too pronounced.

I look forward to your thoughts, thank you for your time.

I think the stone looks great! If you think she is not color sensitive and would rather have a larger diamond over a higher color, then you are all set!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. We looked at some stones locally and she doesn't seem to be too color sensitive. The great thing about JA is that I can order the ring and if she decides it has too much color I can always return it and buy a smaller, less colorful diamond.

Any thoughts on the Idealscope image? Would it be considered excellent? Very good? I've looked at the chart but have a hard time nailing down the correct classification?

IS looks great. NO you shouldn't be nervous about a 2.3 HCA with THAT IS. HCA tells you to investigate further if a stone scores under 2.0, doesn't mean ALL stones under 2.0 will be the best, and they all "look" different anyway. 2.3 is right there still, some people still consider stones up to 3.0. Past that, I'd flat out reject it.
