Does this seem like bad lighting or a serious problem with the cut? Could it be recut?

thanks

Whatever it is it doesn't really look too pretty...

Any chance of a few more pictures?

It certainly does look like a very poorly cut stone...but it's hard to say from just a few snapshots.

And yes - it is better to recut deep stones than shallow ones.
But if it is say 1ct, it will be 0.85ct after recutting - which can be bad economics - but the diameter should not change and it will appear much larger

Haha, thanks for the info! Its 1.3ct-- would the drop in ct weight be a huge economic loss for this range? (although, I''m more concerned with diameter)
Also, would it be better to take it to a jeweler or appraiser to see if recutting is a good idea...?

Just a great deal that I thought could be prettied up, a diamond in the rough if you will (i''m sorry, I tried to fight off that horrible literal pun.. it got the better of me..)
