We recommend GIA or AGS certs. You do not mention color/clarity. Remember other labs tend to be soft on grading.
How do you know the stones are well cut?

2 G/SI1s would be about $1300 and settings run about $150 for basic and around $250 for nicer. James Allen has 25% off settings right now.
So no, I would say the quote you got was not that great of a deal.

Give us more details on the stones.

Edit...just saw you are talking I colored stones. No...not a great deal. Are you in the U.S. or ?

We usually dont recommend going up to VVS because normally VS quality are eye clean and in a .3 size even an SI will most likely be clean.

Edit...do you ever think you might want to trade up for bigger sizes? Some vendors have better
trade up policies then others.

Whiteflash has an excellent trade up policy...only have to pick out stones that cost more than your
original purchase (not necessary to spend 2x the original amount)

The fact they are for studs, and that they are 0.3carat each negates the need for such a high clarity. A couple SI1/SI2s should do the trick here.

Honestly I am a total noob in diamonds.
So you’r saying for small studs like .2 or .3 even an SI stone will be shiney??!

GIA.

Is there a difference?

Yes, you wrote GLA in your original post which is a completely different and lesser known lab, GIA is the one we want.

Yeah was a typo. What’s the difference.
Why do we want GIA?

Because GIA is considered along with AGS to be the gold standard of diamond grading. This makes a BIG difference.

Bright and shiny almost has nothing to do with clarity, unless it's a cloudy diamond.

You never 'need' VVS clarity to achieve a bright and shiny look at any carat range really. You are paying for invisible improvements in clarity at VVS.

GIA SI1/VS2 is good enough for earrings.

Thanks, so for a 0.3 it cost 590 USD per diamond?

Where does James Allen rank in term of the Jewelry Business reputation?
What is a good size diamond for studs?
I'm male btw, incase you didn't know.

What are "good" quality COLOURS?

AND what it the meaning of good cut or excellent cut?

For example what is better for diamond studs?

0,3 SI1 excellent cut G colour or 0,3 VS good cut I colour

I think you need to read about some basic information before you can decide on what kind of diamond studs to narrow down to. There is some basic information on the link below....

For earrings of that size, you certainly could go to I color, but whatever you do, they should be excellent (GIA) or ideal (AGS) cut. GIA Excellent is a wider range of cut parameters, and leaves some room for duds. Takes some sifting to weed out underperformers. (People here are happy to assist). AGS Ideal is a much more narrow cut range, and is far less likely to have stones that underperform (and requires less "sifting").

What is your budget, including import taxes/duties? Folks here could point you toward awesome options.

You need Excellent (GIA) or Ideal (AGS) cut stones. The "cut" is what is going to make the stone sparkly. I think an ideal size is dependent
on who you are, your lobe size, and where you live. 1 ctw would be good in my area. In NYC...you will probably see much bigger.

.6 ctw is a good start. You can upgrade to bigger at a later date if you decide the .6 ctw look too small (diamonds tend to shrink over time due to our
prospective...we get use to them and they no longer seem like they are "big" like when we first bought them...referred to as DSS (Diamond
Shrinkage Syndrome)). Are you buying these stones for yourself? If so, .6 ctw may be all you'll ever want.

James Allen is a responsible, trustworthy vendor. We wont recommend any that arent. Whiteflash is a smaller vendor with a better upgrade policy.
WF diamonds are pre-vetted and are in-house so they can pick 2 stones that match really well.

Color - depends how color sensitive you are. For studs I would probably go down to an "I" color to get more bang for my buck. I'm from the US
if that means anything to you. I would also stick to eye-clean SI1s or VS2 at the most.

You can learn a lot about diamonds on our site like Rph posted...
https://www.pricescope.com/wiki
Or to learn about WF stones (look at the options under the Diamonds pulldown). Lots of good stuff to learn.

I want to show you the size of a .3 stone so you are not surprised when you receive them. I'll show you the difference between a .3 and a .5 stone.
These are shown on a size 6 finger with a 2mm shank band (unfortunately they dont have earlobe mock ups :P2).

Thanks a lot for the info.

I am a guy.
For round solitaire diamonds set in 14k white gold, are the design/ model unisex?
I will be buying them for myself, for everyday wear.
0.3 per diamond is it "big" enough or will it look "feminine" on a guy?

So basically VVS vs SI these clarity difference can only be seen under the scope?

That can be true if you shop smart and get an 'eye clean' SI. But it's case by case not always true.
It's worth noting that clarity grades are relative to size. An primary si1 crystal inclusion in 0.3 carat will be much smaller than if it was 2 carat.

way too expensive for what you're getting. I'd try Whiteflash and get I/VS2 (or J- I have Js and love them) perfectly cut studs in the .6 range for $2k
