Hi, Flower!

Well, it''s not a Burma, (more likely Thai), and I don''t know about "pigeon blood", but here''s mine!

It''s quite dark, and very RED and sparkly. 1.45cts, GIA certified no evidence of heat treatment. I recently had it remounted in platinum in a yellow gold basket, prongs. Side stones: .57 tcw, old European cuts....

Widget, that is a beautiful ring!

I love pigeon blood rubies, but alas, I do not own one...yet.

widget...it''s exquisite. Where was I when you were first describing it? There *has* to be a thread about it somewhere! Is there one in "Show Me The Ring" or in "Colored Stones"? Would you point me to it?

Hi, Deb...
I know I''ve mentioned this stone before...(Valeria remembers

) and I just posted it yesterday in my estate/deco thread in "Show me the Ring"...I seem to have become "post-crazy" lately...

The story behind this stone is that I found it locally for a BARGAIN mounted in an old ''40s/''50s setting. It is so clean that someone later suggested it might be synthetic. I was horrified (it wasn''t THAT much of a bargain

) so I sent it off to be certified...girded to do battle with the local jeweler.

Imagine my delight when it came back not only natural, but unheated!

Diamonds by Lauren did this mounting. I wanted OECs as sides because I thought they would better match the cut of the ruby (small table, deep crown)..but it probably didn''t matter. The diamonds are so small, I don''t notice their cut anyway..

I just visited the thread in which you posted your collection of rings. (I, also, like the cigar band ring!) All I can say is that your ruby ring is breathtaking!

widget-

I am assuming that this is the thread in which you first discussed that ruby? Once I saw the original picture, I remembered it.

Speaking of ruby... Adin got some new things on show, among which this little one.

IMO, old jewelry contains some nice bargains sometimes. perhaps this ruby is too small to count as a "find", but the color seems awfull nice. And I have this weekness for natural pearls - even small.

Here it is the link and the picture:

Wow!

I love rubies! In fact, I''d prefer a high quality ruby to a diamond any day. If only I could afford this 2ct beauty I saw on the Cherry Picked website...

flower12, you are a really really bad girl for not wearing that lovely ring!!!

I love ruby -- it''s my birthstone. Too bad I can''t afford a nice 2+ ct right now. I would want a nice 3-stone similar to the one posted above -- lovely ring Widget!!!

HI:

I love this site--and thanks for the post of this ring: it reminds me greatly of a beauty a British friend of mine used to wear on her right hand--her Mother''s engagement ring. Tres fab!!

cheers--Sharon
