Is there anything wrong with an IGI inscription on the diamond? I also heard that IGI diamonds are the "bottom of the barrel". Is that true?

IGI is likely the largest grading lab in the world by quantity of diamonds.
Different labs may have different standards - but the diamond is the diamond.
On the lower left of the home page is a survey article about EGL, AGS and GIA - we found that most of the urban myths are myths indeed.

You will find IGI diamonds are priced a little lower if you do a search - and if you send a stone to an appraiser - it is likely it will be as good or very often a better buy.

Thank you. That helps. Is the inscription desirable?

Of course - it can be used to identify it if it is stolen or lost :)
