got a video from GOG but didn't want it to be found by the lady if she came across some incriminating pricescope activity on my phone....

i'd like to share with gypsy et al that helped me so much.
 
No private message function. I've contacted PS members through Diamond Bistro or Loupe Troupe listings in the past, but I'm not sure is Gypsy has anything she is currently selling.

Go into stealth mode on your phone (I know android has one I think Apple does)
 
If you have iPhone, you can go into "Private" mode in Safari. Just make sure you close that window when you're done, and then turn off Private mode. No browsing history or search terms will be saved.

You can also go into private mode on most browsers or delete all history from the last hour. It's not hard to be incognito for a period. I regularly delete all my history because it creeps me out having too many companies knowing so much about me.

gypsy, david at gog said he couldn't see any difference when comparing my stone to other 1 cts he had in stock. the dimensions of the stone are still bugging me a little bit. i don't have it yet, but should i be concerned about finger coverage? she's a size 5.5 if that matters..

probably just paranoia on my part, but still i guess that's what this board is for lol.

Travis, I sort of doubt Gypsy will be checking the forum much today because of a loss in her family, so I will try to answer your question of that's okay.

I wear a 5.5. Size is all relative. If you want a larger size appearance, you can go with a round, but it might cost more. If you want a larger cushion, you'll need a larger budget. That cushion is a very nice one for a 1 ct cushion. Most people have smaller diamonds than that when they are first engaged. But what may be more relevant as to how you perceive her ring is how big the diamonds are in your social circle and any sisters. If they all have 2 ct stones, this one will look small. If they have half carat center stones, this one will look larger. You can't worry about that because some people buy larger poor quality stones and others borrow money and spend more, and we wouldn't necessarily recommend either of those options.

But it has been almost a month. Has the setting been ordered?
 
thanks ds! no sisters, and no really flashy friends...

i guess my point is...i know this is a well cut stone. i just don't want anyone to look at it and think...wow it's tiny. i'm hoping that won't be the case.
 
I love the setting you already picked out but you could put it in a halo if you want to give a little more finger coverage.

The light performance with this diamond is top-notch and it's beautiful.
I agree with DS, and unless all your friends are sporting huge rocks and she would care about that, this will be wonderful diamond [and setting] to cherish.
 
My guess is that people with larger stones will think it is small, and people with smaller stones will think it is huge!

The same goes for me. I have been married for over 30 years and got a 2 ct diamond last year. When I get together with PS friends, plenty of them have 3+ ct diamonds so mine is one of the smaller ones. (I am seeing a PS friend this weekend who has a 3+ ct round and a 5 ct cushion in fact!!!) In my everyday life, few people have over a carat, and mine is the large one. You really have to let that idea go and not worry about it. Someday after houses and kids or whatever your priorities are, you can give her a second diamond ring if that is important to either of you. I wore my 1 ct diamond for 30 years happily and never worried about the size.
