I''m trying to decide whether or not to purchase the device for rhodium plating but I''ve been told that the fumes are toxic. Anyone have any resources they can point me to?

i''m a total diy''er but that''s not something even *i* would do. may i ask why you are pursuing such a venture?

I have a jewelry store and an in house goldsmith but he needs to go to another goldsmith everytime we need plating done.

surely the supplier has information on the device.

Plating involves using chemicals including cyanide and acids.
These two things together produce cyanic gas which is not very good for you!
But,if you follow the safety rules you will come to no harm.Just don`t sniff the fumes too much and keep any kids away from the chemicals.
Also rinse any objects with water before and after plating.
Not worth getting a plating machine unless you need to do loads of it on a regular basis.
