Is my quartz cracked

I bought this very special tourmilated quartz a couple years ago. I’m finally looking to have it set, but when I took it out of storage, I had it in one of those little gem cases and the whole case fell to the ground with the lid on…when it fell, the lid opened and the quartz tumbled out onto concrete.

I had never inspected it closely prior to this or should I say too closely. In so I found this little cloudy area. It appears to be beneath the surface and I’m unsure if it’s an internal crack from the fall.

I’m putting some manufacturer photos on here as well and I think I have found the same area in the manufacturer photos, so I’m thinking it might be an inclusion in some angles at six extremely noticeable in other angles. It’s not noticeable at all.

Thoughts? Should I expect it to set ok?
Looking at a white gold or sterling silver filigree setting

Thank you

Oooh that’s a really hard one to call. When my jadeite bangle cracked it developed a line like that. Fuzzy line which ran through the jade where it cracked.

But in these faceted stones I think it could be a cloud, bunch of bubbles or a foggy veil like inclusion?

Doesn’t seem like the spot in question was there on the manufacturers photos? I can’t quite tell if that’s the same thing or not and on your bracelet did the crack reach the surface?

I meant "Does it seem..."

No I could never feel the crack on the surface of my bangle by after that crazy whack I saw it right away so it was definitely a crack that had never been there before.

I think I can see the spot you are pointing to in the initial listing photo which is why I say it could be a number of things, not necessarily a crack.

Is it visible at every angle or just specific ones?

I just looked at it under loupe. I have one I think it's 30 and 60x. The surface of the stone is flat. When I turn it at angles light reflects a smooth surface. So Im almost certain whatever it is is inside. It could be an internal fracture but I agree I think it's there in the initial photos. I'm really hoping it wont break in setting.

I think that's just part of its internal structure (not damage), and I don't think it will unduly weaken the stone. Rutilated quartz is already a bit less tough than traditional quartz, because of the rutile's intergrowth with the quartz crystal. So I'd say with a hardness of 7 and lowered toughness, it's already going to require a bit of special care if set in a ring... sort of like an emerald with "jardin," I would say. I'd avoid wearing it as an every day ring.

I agree with the what has been said but you could always ask the seller if they happen to remember whether it was there when sold.
