Hello,

I am new to this engagement ring thing and I know close to nothing about it. I have read many of the post on this site, but I still feel I need some assistance. For example, is it okay to purchase a diamond ring from Costco. I have looked around and have not found the same prices anywhere else, could you tell me why. I just want something nice, that she and I will both be happy with. Also, I was just wondering if you could tell what the difference between princess cut and round cut is?

These are a couple of the rings I have seen on Costco.com please give me any and all suggestions possible. thank you

I think you may find better deals by using the pricescope search engine that you see above.

Princess cut is square, whereas round is ummm, round.

Jadium,

Welcome to Pricescope,

Costco is a fine company. I shop there regularly. They have pretty good prices and fantastic post sale relations. For people that want a little more information about their stone before they make their purchase, like Sarin reports and IS images, Costco can be a little difficult. They just aren’t prepared to deliver this kind of thing. I strongly recommend that you get an independent appraisal if you decide to go with one of these. IGI (the company that did the grading on both of the stones you've listed) does not have the best reputation for consistent grading and there are quite a few important value elements that aren’t mentioned.

Read the tutorial at the top of the page. It’s got some good material in it. I see quite a few similar stones for sale using the search bar at the top called ‘pricescope your diamond’. You can use this to look for other stones that are similar to the one you’re looking at. There are dozens of dealers here that can readily compete with Costco.

By the way, I love your avatar.

HI:

In addition, might I invite you to search the Pricescope archives for past discussion on buying jewellery from Costco--previously, others have posted similar questions to yours. Happy searching.

cheers--Sharon
