This may seem like a dumb question, but is it OK to wear a 3 stone ring by itself (with no wedding band) on my left hand? I "most likely"

will be getting a 3 stone ring made with my 1.5ct round and I don''t want to wear it on my right hand, but instead want to wear it as my "wedding ring". I did a search and saw there seems to be some debate with some people saying you should have a separate e-ring and wedding band. I do have a wedding band (my 5 shared prong set diamond band) but to wear it with the 3 stone ring would be too much *bling* for me. Plus, I can''t get used to the idea of wearing 2 rings! (I recently had my 0.38ct reset in a solitaire and began wearing it with my diamond band and I still can''t get used to it! I fiddle with it all the time!)

I don''t want to look like I''m perpetually enagaged as I have been married 5 1/2 years!

Oh, the side diamonds would be 0.25ct each on the ring.

What do you think?

My personal opinion is... anything goes! I think your plan sounds lovely, and if that''s what you want, then definitely just do it! A lot of people choose other styles for their e-rings or w-rings... the "traditional solitaire" as we tend to think of it, is only one option. The possibilities are endless - and I think a 3 stone ring will be beautiful on your left hand!

jellybean,

honestly, just wear what you feel comfortable with.
i see people wear all sorts of rings and combinations as a symbol of their marriage.
some wear a simple band, while others wear their engagement ring.
some wear both the e-ring and w-band, while others wear neither.
then you also have some of those who wear a tattoo

.
it''s all a matter of preference.

I agree with Lynn. Anything goes! There have been several threads on here in which numerous people have discussed only wearing one ring on their left hand ring finger. Often their e-rings are of such a design that they don't easily accomodate a wedding band comfortably. I think some people have decided to wear one ring on one hand and the other on the other! While others have just decided to keep just one ring. It's your preference!

If you're interested, you should search for those threads. I know Reena had been participating in one a couple months back. But in the end, it really doesn't matter except for what you want.
Oh and congrats on that beauty of a stone!!

I''ve also seen a three-stone e-ring on the left hand and a w-band on the right. Really, i think it''s entirely up to you.

I agree and think that whatever you want to wear, you should wear! I''ve seen lots of people only wear their engagement ring, or even an engagement band at work (lots of people that wear gloves), or both. My mother got an anniversary band with many rows of diamonds, and now neither wears her original e-ring or w-band...just the anniversary ring. I think I would personally mix it up, depending on my mood.

I know many women with substantial erings (as yours would be) that wear them alone on the left hand...I don''t believe this is uncommon at all. Go for it!

I only wear my new upgrade e-ring on my left hand. I wanted a wedding band with diamonds but can''t find one to sit flush due to the design. Even before I got the upgrade I rarely wore my wedding band because it made the whole thing too thick.

If that is what you want to do, then do it. With the designs we are seeing nowadays, many ring are not made for wedding bands to match.

Isn''t it traditional in Europe to wear the wedding band on the right hand and the e-ring on the left?

I also say to do whatever you want. But...I am not comfortable wearing just my 3 stone on my left hand. I feel like I''m wearing an engagement ring. I wear it with my anniversary band of 3 pointers or with my 2mm white gold band if I wear it on my left hand. I usually wear it alone on my right hand though.

I think you can wear your rings any way you like. I have a 3 stone 1 carat past, present and future diamond ring and i wear it with my 5 stone channel wedding band and because the 3 stone is large on my hand....it took away from my engagement ring, so just before xmas my husband took my stone and traded it from a .43 carat to a 1.16 carat and now it all looks fantastic...so u do whatever looks good to you. I did however, put my two row diamond channel anniversary band on my right hand as it was just going to be too much on my finger. Anyways good luck with whatever you decided you like...

My mother used to wear nothing on her left ring finger. Since she got the 3-stone ring she wears that constantly now. Personally, I think it is too much bling for a person her age. The center stone is 3 ct with 1 ct side stones.

I agree with everyone here. I never had an ering. I have two wedding bands with square cut diamonds (got married in TWO countries:)). My DH then surprised me with a RB for our 10th anniversary. I had that made into a custom setting along with my two bands.....

Whatever you want to wear looks the best, I think!

Let''s see some pics when you have it!

I''m thinking of doing exactly that! Go for it if that''s what you want because your happiness is what''s important.

"a woman her age"

Please, there's never too much bling!

As my aunt's nutty neighbor used to say:
"What?! Do you want me to wait until I'm in the box?!"

I agree! You youngsters can''t carry off the big diamonds like the old broads. I mean, what good is there in old wrinkly hands except that they can carry off the big rocks. It takes a lifetime to acquire those wrinkles and rocks.

Thanks for your help! I don''t see a lot of 3 stone rings around here (believe it or not!) so I wasn''t sure if it would look too "engagement-y" just wearing it on my left hand. I only know one gal that has a 3 stone ring but she wears a 2mm plain band with it.

Now I just have to decide what kind of setting! I think I will start a new thread on that.

Oh, as far as too much bling is concerned -- my husband''s grandmother had all of her diamonds put into one ring. The biggest diamond was a little over 1ct and I think the total wt of the ring was around 5 or 6 cts. At first I thought it was the ugliest ring I had ever seen and my SIL once asked her why she wore all her diamonds at once and her response was her wrinkles and sagging boobs allowed her to wear all the diamonds she wanted.

My man hands make me want to hurl..and the stone on the right is set funky...but here is mine. I wear it alone.!
