Is anyone else completely obsessed with checking for dings?

If I so much as rub my ring on paper, I flip out and check it with my loupe. I have no idea why. If I tap it on my key (the stone/setting head, not band) I freak out and whip out the loupe. I got the base of the setting where it meets the band kind of hooked on the grocery basket tonight and right there in the grocery checkout I whipped out my loupe like a crazy person to check it all. THen when I got back home 5 minutes later I spent almost 20 minutes examining and scrutinizing it. Im not worried about the band, just the setting, head and stone.

Is this normal? Ive had it for not quite a month and I thought Id calm down a bit but jeez!

And yes its insured. You would think that would make me relax....

Oh my goodness! I am EXACTLY the same. And every night when I take my ring off, I hold it next to my ear and tap it to make sure I don't hear any loose stones rattling around in their prongs. It's horrible! I can't even truly enjoy my ring because I'm so worried about damaging it. Now that my upgrade is almost finished and will soon be on its way to me, I've loosened up a bit with the ring I have now. I'm going to try to work on my obsessive-compulsive worrying when I get my new ring.

hahaha..you crack me up! i'm the same way too.. everytime i knock my ring, i have to check it out.. although i don't use a loupe. i'm trying to be better about it now..

I also won't reach into my purse with my left hand. It's so silly, because the wide eternity band I wear on my right hand gets banged around A LOT, and it's perfectly fine.

I do the same thing, but also not with a loupe. If I had one, I'd surely be whipping it out, though.

You guys are nuts! Then I though about how flattered I would be if I my fiancee would be so crazy about her ring when I finally give it to her. If your ring was a gift, let the person who gave it to you know just how nuts you are.

Probably more like a half hour. I seriously have problems. Im considering hooking my loupe to my keyring so its more readily available.

I won't open doors with my left hand and won't reach in my purse with my left hand either.

Im insane. Seriously.
