Hi forum,
I''ve recently purchased a 1ct H&A, I VS2 stone and am having it set in the Vatche Royal Crown, 18k gold setting for an e-ring. The sacrifice in color from G to I was made for a significant size increase. Unfortunately, I am very color in-sensitive and the indifference with my own eyes still doesn''t have me convinced there''s no tint present. However, there''s also been no doubt that my FTB has always put carat as a close second to cut and as long as a stone doesn''t look an obvious yellow, I know she''ll be happy with this tradeoff.
I''ve pretty much soothed any concern over the I color since reading that when setting in yellow gold, sometimes even color down to J can face up very white. By definition, does this already include the fairly-common platinum head with gold bands, like the RC setting features? Should I be at all concerned that the RC head has a bit more presence than a standard 4 prong head and consider this to be setting an I color stone in platinum?
Thanks for any comments!
