How was your weekend?
Oops! Sorry, Jo . . . I just saw this!
emembarrassed.gif

Last weekend was fun! DH and I went to various aquarium shops in our area and got some new critters for our saltwater fish tank! OK, you caught me . . . we''re fish nerds! LOL!
9.gif

This weekend has been OK so far. I taught riding lessons all day yesterday (DAMN it was cold!) and today I''m just lazing around. DH wants to go to Bass Pro Shops today, but it''s like an hour away and I have zero interest in going, so he might be going by himself!

Ooo a fish nerd!!!!! lol. I love fish, and we''ve talked about getting some......but I''m just not ready. I had a bad experience with my last round of fish. And I really love saltwater, but their just so much more involved. I don''t think I have the dedication or time to put into that right now.
What kind of critters did you get?

Is it pretty cold by you? Its been about 30 during the day and 10 at night here, and I''d really like it to warm up. I''m going to the Packer game next sunday, and I''m really hoping hard for some 40ish degree weather.

The Bass pro shop.......hmmm.....I''ve never been to one. And well, quite frankly it just doesn''t sound real interesting. Is it just fishing stuff, or an all around sports shop?

Not a whole lot new with me. I had a physical on Friday and had to have some bloodwork done. I''ve been bruising very easily for about the last 6 months or so. And blood disorders run in my family, so I''m a little nervous to see how that turns out. Hopefully its nothing, maybe just anemia or an iron deficincy. We shall see.

We actually have three fish tanks in our house: a 30-gallon saltwater tank in the living room, a hexagon-shaped goldfish tank (also in the living room), and a small freshwater tropical fish tank on my dresser in our bedroom. We would really like to get a bigger saltwater tank someday though, and then we''d probably turn our current saltwater tank into another freshwater tank . . . for a total of four fish tanks in our house! LOL!
41.gif

Our saltwater tank is the one that gets "spoiled" the most, I guess. They really are pretty high-maintenance, but probably not as bad as you''d think. Once it''s all set up and the right bacteria are growing in it, it''s basically no worse than maintaining any other fish tank. DH does all the hard work . . . I just look at the pretty fish! Hee hee!
4.gif

Our saltwater tank currently has a half-black pygmy angelfish, a fire goby, a clown fish (and yes, his name is Nemo!), and seven green chromis. The fish we got recently are six of the seven green chromis (we already had one and he wanted some buddies!) and a clam! I just love the clam! He''s so cool!
10.gif

And we didn''t wind up going to Bass Pro Shop after all yestderday. YAY!!! They do have a bunch of fishing stuff (which is what DH is into), but they also have pretty much anything you could ever need for hunting and camping as well. I''m sure they are CRAZY busy right now, since hunting season starts very soon. I absolutely hate going with DH to Bass Pro . . . BORING!!!
14.gif

It has been pretty cold here lately. I think it''s supposed to be in the 30s today, and we might get some snow showers tonight. Brrrrr!
32.gif

Sorry to hear about the bruising! I hope everything''s OK!

Thanks - I hope everything is ok too......I haven''t gotten a phone call yet. The results should be in sometime today. Although in the medical world, no phone call usually means, that everything is normal, so I''ll take it as a good sign!

Personally, I can''t stand sporting goods stores for more than about 10 or 15 minutes. There''s a giant Scheels store, I don''t know if thats a national chain or not, but there was just absolutely nothing exciting about that place. Except fudge. Ya, they had a counter that sells fudge. So, ok, I guess that wasn''t so bad!
31.gif

I just looked out the window an hour or so ago for the first time today......and the whole world is white!!!!
14.gif
I didn''t even have any idea that it was supposed to snow! I feel so unprepared!

I love clown fish!!!! And Nemo. That''s such a cute movie! And fire gobies are kinda cool looking too.

So I love the holiday season for many reasons, but the biggest (for today) is frosted cookies!!!!! I love frosted cookies, and I''ve been craving them since halloween. The grocery store only makes them for major holidays. I think I might have to brave the snow to go get some. Their soooo yummy!

Ah, yes . . . last week, we had snow on the ground for the first time this year! I was NOT pleased!!! I''m definitely not a winter person. The snow is pretty, and I don''t really mind it much as long as I don''t have anywhere to go, but I hate driving in it. (Although I''m a little less bothered by that now that I have 4WD!)

And FUDGE!!! Oh, if only Bass Pro Shop sold fudge! I would be THERE!!! I''m such a fudge addict!
18.gif

And the frosted cookies sound good too! Are they just sugar cookies with frosting on top, or is there more to it than that? If they''re the frosted sugar cookies, I know what you mean! LOVE those things!!!

Yup, just the plain jane frosted sugar cookies.......Some kinds are better than others, and the bakery at this one store just makes them so perfectly!!!! They''ve gotten really expensive though. Their $5.99 for a dozen. That seems a little crazy. I know I should just buy some dough and make my own, but I''m quite sure they won''t turn out nearly as tasty. Plus all the work involved with making frosting. You know, the glazy kind.......mmmm......why am I still home? Ok. I''m going to go get some now.

Mmmm - that does sound good. Do you guys have any special thanksgiving traditions?
We''re going to my grandma''s house. She is a fantastic cook! She makes these amazing potatoe dumplings that should seriously win an award!
So do you get off on Friday? I don''t

I''m a big black Friday shopper - and I''m going to miss out this year. Well, I guess I could go before work, but that would make for a reeeaaally long day! And work is going to be super boring. Most of the doctors at the clinic are on vacation, so I''m going to be doing a lot of thumb twiddling.
Do you go out on black Friday?

Hope you have a fabulous turkey day irish!!!!

Hi, Jo!

Yep, I was off on Friday and so was DH!
9.gif

We NEVER go shopping on Black Friday. The crowds are just WAAAAAY too insane!!!
32.gif

Do you get much time off at Christmas? We''re closing at noon on Christmas Eve and having our office potluck Christmas party, and then we get to go home right after the party. Then, of course we''re off on Christmas Day, and also the Friday after Christmas. I took vacation time for the following Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and then we''re off on New Years Day and the day after . . . so I''ll be off for like 11 days straight!!! WOO HOO!!!

I don''t usually get too much time at Christmas, because I''m still very low on the seniority ladder. I have to work Christmas Eve. The clinics all close at noon, except mine, because we have an Urgent Care and that''s open until 8pm....soooo that means I''m there until at least 8 or 9. But I do have Christmas off and the day after. I''m pretty shocked about having off the 26th. But I do have to work on New Years day. (that one is double pay though)
9.gif
But I really like my job, so I don''t mind not having a whole lot of time off.

Yeah, I would imagine liking your job so much does make it a lot easier. It sucks that you don''t get much time off at the holidays though! Hey, but the double-pay on New Years Day is great!

It does kinda suck, but ya know, I''m just so grateful for having a secure job and steady work. Its something that I''ve really taken for granted until lately. Seeing what''s going on in our country with new companies every day laying off. It breaks my heart for all these families that are having to go through this.

I have done some Christmas shopping. Mostly for C. But I do know what I''m getting everyone for the most part. Except my dad. He''s the hardest person to shop for ever. There''s nothing he wants or needs. Period. Sigh.
C has been in Chicago for the last 2 days, and is coming back later tonight. So I got the house decorated while he was gone. Minus a tree. We haven''t gotten one yet. Have you gotten one? I''m just sitting here admiring all the crazy fire bouncing off my rings under all the white christmas lights. Its quite fascinating.
I can''t remember if I asked you earlier in the thread, but are there any TV shows you like to watch? I''m catching up on my CSI episodes on the DVR right now. Since I usually work through the primetime TV shows, I have to record everything, and I always fall so far behind.

PS: I just got my blood work results today. Everything came back normal. That''s a sigh of relief. Although the counts were verging on the high end of normal, its something I need to monitor, but that''s ok.

Oh, Jo, that''s great! I''m so glad everything was in the "normal" range! Definitely keep an eye on it of course, but I''m relieved that you''re OK!

DH and I are decorating the house for Christmas today. I''m so not into it though! I don''t know why, but I never really enjoy decorating, and I definitely don''t enjoy taking the decorations down when Christmas is over. It''s such a hassle . . . I wish I could just wave a magic wand and have it be DONE! LOL!
20.gif

I do love the way diamonds look under those white Christmas lights though! I know exactly what you mean!
30.gif

And I definitely have certain TV shows that I absolutely HAVE to watch! Those would be: Desperate Housewives, Grey''s Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Criminal Minds, Medium, and The Cleaner. (Medium and The Cleaner aren''t on right now, so I''m anxiously waiting for them to come back!) I do like CSI too, both the original and CSI Miami. I also like Cold Case and Without a Trace, but I rarely get to see those two.
7.gif

Well, I guess I''d better get back to decorating. Bleck!

DH is supposed to be getting a tree as I type. I''m at my parents house for the evening. I really had to force myself to decorate this year. And I''m kinda dreading the tree. I told him to just get a small one. I don''t know why, but I just haven''t been in the mood for it. But it looks so nice when its done. Do you guys do a lot of decorating?

Sounds like we like a lot of the same shows. I''m so far behind. I have a bunch of stuff on the DVR and I have 4 VCR tapes full of shows from the last month or so.

Ok, tv related funny story. Maybe not so much funny as annoying. I had a special deal through our cable company that I had a year of freebies. Free DVR, hbo, showtime, on demand etc. So then I figured, I''d probably cancel those extras once my year was up. Well, I was thinking I had until February or so. Ya....No! I opened up the bill last night, expecting to see around $60. HAHA. It was almost $170!!!!!! I almost died. But, its my own fault for not paying attention to when my free time was up. Joke is on me. I never in a million years, would have thought that I was getting over $100 in free stuff. I figured I would have to pay an extra $25 or $30 or something. Whoa, was I wrong. I told Clint, and he said, well, those movie channels are nice, but not THAT nice!!! But I think I will keep the DVR. That sure is nice. I think I need to open up my own cable company. They sure must be making a boatload of money!

LOL! I know what you mean about the cable bill! It''s my responsibility to pay all the bills, so DH rarely sees any of our bills (cable bill included) . . . I just get them in the mail, pay them, and then file them away. Well, he happened to be sitting next to me when I opened our cable bill last week. Ours is usually somewhere around $110 or so (which includes TV and Internet, but no DVR or movie channels). DH said "Holy crap, our cable bill is expensive!!!" And this is AFTER I called Comcast and asked if they would be willing to give us some kind of break since we''re loyal customers and are considering switching to the Dish! (Comcast did give us a break on our bill for like the next six months . . . they just gave us the same special offer that new customers get.)

I''m totally the same way about Christmas too! I felt bad yesterday because DH was decorating the tree and everything, and I was just NOT into it at all! I just pretty much lazed around while he did all the decorating! LOL! I don''t know why, but I''m just not very excited about Christmas this year. Other than the time off, of course. I AM excited about that! LOL!

DH said ''Holy crap, our cable bill is expensive!!!'' And this is AFTER I called Comcast and asked if they would be willing to give us some kind of break since we''re loyal customers and are considering switching to the Dish! Maybe you need a good snowstorm to put you in the mood. For Christmas that is. We''re supposed to be getting 12-14 inches overnight. Should be great fun.

Boy, $110 does seem expensive. Btw, I don''t think I''ve ever asked you, what does your dh do for a living?

HA! "Snow" is a four-letter word in our house! LOL! Fortunately, we never get very much at a time. Six inches is a big snow event for us, and it's REALLY rare for us to get a foot or more! It's really pretty and it's always exciting when we get a decent amount of snow, but then it gets a lot less exciting when we have to go out in it!

Oh, and DH is an electrician. He's VERY useful to have around the house, especially since our house is about 100 years old! LOL!

Good luck with the snowstorm! I hope you guys aren't snowed in for too long!
