Who Irishgrrrl!!! Get on over here and tell us about yourself!!

I think we would be more inclined to vote if we had someone interesting and exciting to vote for. All our politicians promise the same thing.. less taxes.. better health service etc. Then when they get in they just do the opposite or nothing. Thats why I don''t vote.

Oh, that''s often the case here to. There was a big joke about the first President Bush. During his campaign, he famously said "Read my lips: NO NEW TAXES." And guess what he did when he got elected???
20.gif

Why promise things you simply have no intention of doing! Its bizarre!

Our government isn''t popular because of the Iraq war. I think most of the general public think we shouldn''t have gotten involved. It cost the tax payers so much to send our army. Not only are we still in Iraq but we are in Afghanistan too! Why do we feel the need to interfere so much. I know there are problems that need sorting out.. but why commit our men so easily!

I shall get off my box now!

Oh, Maisie, I think you just said EXACTLY what''s on the mind of most of the citizens here in the US too! I wish we would just GET OUT of Iraq and Afghanistan already!
38.gif

Its like we are so arrogant we have the right to just go in and deal with situations. I know life is horrible for the people who live in these places.. but I feel that the government seriously underestimated the Iraqi people. The fight has been way harder and more prolonged than expected.

That''s very true. I think these countries sometimes need to just be given a chance to work out their own problems. I wish the US government would figure out that they can''t solve a country''s problems just by invading that country. It is not our job to save every struggling country in the world.
38.gif

I feel like I''m not educated enough to have a proper opinion on the war. Not educated by college degree, but educated, as in - informed. What the truth really is. What''s right and what''s wrong. Yes, everyone has their ideas on it, and that''s ok. I just can''t knock it, nor defend it, because I have no proper arguement to back either way.
But I just have to add that I have just so much respect and admiration for all the men and ladies that are fighting over there, and too for their families at home that are standing by their sides.

On to lighter things, more fun q''s!

IG - what is your favorite beverage - alcoholic and non!

What did you get for your 30th bday?

How long is your commute to work?

Favorite fragrance?

Favorite fragrance for dh?

Absolutely, Jo! I support the troops 100%, but I don''t support the war. And I sometimes wonder if ANY of us are educated enough to really have an opinion on the war. All we know is what we''re fed by the media. I''m sure we don''t have the whole story. I just feel in my heart of hearts that we should be done over there. I want our soldiers to stop dying.

YAY! More fun topics! LOL!

My favorite alcoholic beverage has to be the Wallaby Darned! It''s a mixed drink that you can get at Outback Steakhouse. It''s a frozen slushie sort of a thing, and it''s peach flavored, with champagne in there somewhere too! YUMMO!!!
18.gif

Favorite non-alcoholic beverage . . . hmmmm . . . probably sweet tea.
18.gif

For my 30th birthday, DH got me the lovely diamond studs in my avatar!
30.gif

My commute to work is AWESOME! I can get there in literally under a minute! I live about three blocks or so from my office. But, our office might be moving to a neighboring town, so if/when that happens it will take me more like 20 minutes.
39.gif

My favorite fragrance is probably Clinique Happy to Be. But, I''ve been wearing Black Amethyst by Bath & Body Works lately, and I''m loving that too! DH wears Truth by Calvin Klein, and also Clinique Happy for Men and I love both of those!

I know someone in the British Army who was sent to Iraq. He told me that they were not equipped to fight there. They didn''t have the basic safety equipment for the first few months. Thats just not right. And how many of them will come home with post traumatic stress disorder? I believe the armed forces should be there first and foremost to defend our country. I don''t agree that invading Iraq was defending us. I guess you could go down the terrorist route but I really don''t believe that terror attacks will stop just because we invade a country. If anything it would make the attacks worse.

Shall I shut up now?

Hee hee! Maisie, it''s fun talking to someone from another country . . . gives me a whole different perspective on things! If you haven''t already, you should check out the "International Opinions on the US Presidential Election" thread over in the ATW forum. Lots of non-American PSers are discussing this stuff over there. I know you don''t think you''re clever enough to post in ATW, but I couldn''t disagree more!!! I think they would all love to hear from you over there!

I might have a wander over there and have a look.. but I still say I won''t post for fear of feeling stupid.

Me too! War is just so terrible. My great uncle fought in Vietnam, and experienced some horrible things there. He can't use his left arm at all, not to mention the mental/emotional toll. He's mostly overcome that through the years, but its just tragic, regaurdless.

And the media......geez, the majority of the media is controlled by only about 2 or 3 different people/factions. They own the tv stations, they own the magazines, etc. I have a friend that interned for one of the major networks and some of the stories she told me were very disheartening. How they weren't supposed to report on this or that, and they could only dwell on such and such for this amount of time, and downplay this. How can anyone really know the truth when that's going on? And I'm sure its not just that particular channel, but all of them. So sad.

Jo, I totally agree about the media. I think they see all of us viewers/readers as sheep to be herded in whatever direction they choose.

Lol. No, I''m in Wisconsin. One of the jokes around here is, you know your from WI if you buy your kids halloween costumes 2 sizes to big to fit over a snowsuit! Sadly, I think I did have to do that once as a kid.....well not a snowsuit, but winter coat and hat and gloves. Uck!

Whats your favorite season/type of weather?

Ohhhh, Wisconsin! BRRRR!

I love the spring! I think it''s because I was born in the spring (although my Mom says it was HOTHOTHOT on the day I was born)! I just love all the flowers blooming and the weather getting warmer!
1.gif

I can''t stand winter, though. Especially when there''s snow and ice. It''s not so bad if I don''t have to drive in it . . . it''s kinda pretty. But I do NOT like driving on those nasty winter roads, especially here in PA where they don''t seem to give a crap about snow removal!

I love to drive - anytime, anywhere. I have a nice 4 wheel drive that plows thru it all!! Winter driving doesn''t particularly bother me, its just the other drivers!!!!

I have a 2006 Mercury Mariner and I LOVE IT!!! It''s my first brand-new vehicle, and it''s got four-wheel drive, so I do feel a lot more secure in it than I did in my old car (a Honda del Sol). I''ve never had a problem with it in the snow . . . I guess I''m just paranoid about winter driving!
19.gif

Aaaaa!!!! A honda del sol!!!! What color? That was my dream car when I turned 16! We had a neighbor who had one in green, and I just wanted that car soo bad! We finally found one for sale, but it ended up having some issues, so I didn''t buy it, and got a saturn instead.

Red and I just kinda putz around. He''s 17 and starting to show his age. I did compete a little bit when I was in high school, but I never loved showing. I like to ride just to ride! I''m a hunter-jumper girl, and the show scene can be a little, um, DIFFERENT (hunters especially)!

Arabs are beautiful critters, and I admire them greatly . . . from afar! LOL! I have known a few Arabs that were just wonderful, and a few others that were completely insane! Of course, ''completely insane'' is something I''m used to since I own a TB! LOL!

Jo, it was a 1995 Honda del Sol SI, and it was "paradise blue-green." I loved loved loved that car!!! I bought it used in 1997, when it was two years old, and I kept it until 2006 when I traded it in on my Mariner. It really was a cool car!

Irisshgirl - I''m catching up!! lol Your proposal story is too cute!!! Red sounds like a doll and the arab thing, I think you just have to find the right horse in today''s world. I''ve seen some crazies too, but it''s the trainers that do it to them or the breeders by breeding blowup to blow up lol. I''ve seen some crazy things elsewhere though so meh, but I have two arabs so wanted to ask.
