How important is it to have raised ink on wedding invitations? Also, are RSVP cards usually done in raised ink? Any suggestions on websites with inexpensive invitations? Thanks!

Welcome Lifey!

I dont think its important at all... its just a type of printing called lithography. One of the most expensive printing techniques is called letterpress and actually has flat letters. I would say it is more of a personal and budget preference than anything else. Whichever style you like (raised or flat), you probably want all your pieces to match. The exception would be if you are printing directions or something similar on your home printer (flat letters) and everything else was printing with lithography (raised letters).

Here is an older thread with invite websites

I don''t think it''s mandatory--definitely a personal choice. My invitations and rsvp cards were done with thermography, which is the raised lettering. It''s much less expensive than engraving and I think it looks great. But it''s definitely not a requirement.

I printed all my invites and materials on my office laser printer. I got so many compliments for my invites. Granted they were completely different than what most people do but I think the overall design is more important than the printing method.
