You will not believe this.

Yesterday my father bought a used car, paid for in cash, and some time last night it was stolen from our driveway (I''m visiting them for Thanksgiving). We had the car for less than 24 hours.

I don''t want to sound like a nutjob, but I just can''t explain this away.

I normally go to bed early but last night, I had the strangest feeling that something was going to happen to the car. Something in my gut kept telling me something bad was going to happen in our driveway... I didn''t think "my car is going to get stolen" but I just had this really vague feeling, like maybe someone would vandalize it or break in. From around 9 PM to midnight I kept turning on the driveway lights and looking outside. A little after midnight, I actually walked down to our driveway (it''s a long driveway up a hill but the car was parked near the house) and looked at the cars parked there. I could not shake the feeling that something bad was just around the corner.

This morning, my dad goes outside and the car we''ve had for less than 24 hours is gone.

Unbelievable. I''ve never been one of those "trust your gut, use your intuition" type people, but last night, I really did know something was wrong even though I didn''t seem to have an apparent reason at the time.

By far the worst Thanksgiving yet!

oh man Gleam! I'm so sorry, I hear yah on the intuition. I'm dealing right now with credit/debit card scamming me... unbelievable. I wonder if it is a major holiday that bring the theives and scammers out moreso since there are less enforcement ie, banks open and law enforcement on holiday? I hope you find your car- Hopefully you got it insured right away?

Did he buy it from a dealer or a person? Regardless I would call the police ASAP and start the investigation there. I bet some kid from the dealer/a friend of the original owner kept a key just to run this type of scam.

I''m so sorry Gleam-that stinks. But get the police involved ASAP and I bet they can get some info. I don''t think it was a random act KWIM?

YUP. I would bet a million dollars that the seller is involved in this somehow. Did your father get a bill of sale, or the title to the car? I''m sorry this happened to you!

I am very sorry this happened.

It sounds like a scam.

It has happened a lot over here and in the UK, with buying from private sellers. The kick is that often the seller doesn''t even have title to start with. Your father was either followed home or if the transcaction was done at his home, they just waited for nightfall.

Again, I am sorry.

So sorry.
And what a day for it to happen.

So sorry Gleam. I am thankful your Dad was not hurt!

Ditto, that stinks. Grrr.

Oh no, I hope they find the vehicle! I am sorry.

Wow - what a way to start Thanksgiving. I''m so sorry the car was stolen (it really does sound like a scam involving the person it was purchased from...) I really hope they find the car and the person who stole it soon

I was thinking the very same thing. Gleam, I am very sorry this happened to your father. I hope that a resolution is found soon.

I''m sorry to hear the car was stolen.

Yikes, how awful.
I hope you already had your insurance in place.

That is terrible! I do know that if he has full coverage insurance on the other cars- most of the time the insurer will give a few days to notify of a new car purchase. Check w/ his insurance agent... (the reason I mention is they will usually extend coverage in a "grace period")

and the police. I'm also on that boat of the person that sold it has something to do w/ this... just too coincidental...

HUGE HUGS, and I'm glad no one was hurt.

I don't think you're crazy for sensing trouble, Gleam. I have so often gotten subconscious "tipoffs" that I have by now learned to stop, think, pay attention, and replay whatever scraps of information are there until I get it mapped out in my conscious head. Sometimes, I've had outright visions or dreams of future events that were going to be a danger to me or someone near me. I think evil exists, and bad people give off a kind of aura. I am not a great believer in the supernatural. And I'm not devoutly religious. But I do think humans have some instincts that are throwbacks to caveman days. We're not *that* far removed from animals. So it's not farfected to think that your subconscious brain picked up something your conscious brain missed.

And do be more careful about confronting it.
