Although it was a disappointment regarding the overtaking by the Democratic party, I can say that it is refreshing that many of those who ran the democrat line were at least more conservative democrats. I find it disappointing that people fell into the scheme of getting people to vote based on national issues as opposed to local issues. When I went to the polls I considered the "local" issue, which is what this election is about. Ah Well...

But it was not suprising, not because of anything that is happening with Bush.. etc.etc. But that there is always this historical switch between the parties in control during a mid term, presidential second term election.

While I''m embarrassed for my home state (Texas) and a bit disappointed for my current (California), I welcome the change with open arms. I welcome the fact that now (hopefully), we won''t have to live under laws according to Jesus Christ, and I welcome the fact that the President won''t be able dance all over this country and others unchecked. Please, please, Dems...don''t let this country down.

I''m hoping for the exact same things you are EBree... we need a change.

*M*

You were not living under the rules of Jesus Christ, if so this country would be a heck of a lot better than baby murderers and infidelity tolerance, This country was being governed by a party that the majority voted for. Do I think there will be change... ummmm... not really, if anything, things will get worse and we will continue to blame Bush whenever the Dems can;t seem to accomplish their rainbows.

Do we need change? Sure... Do I think this "new party" of democrats are going to be this counrty''s Saving grace? About as much as I think a leprechaun is going to be at that end of the rainbow that the Dems want to build.

Too many things to say here... so I will just respectfully disagree.

*M*

ETA: And with the unfortunate way elections work here, do to lack of funding for other parties, we are left with mostly the Republicans and Democrats. All I was saying in agreement to EBree was that the Republicans weren't up to par in my opinion, so a change of party is one major way that we can at least START to change things.

Well, MINE, it''s a shame not everyone agrees with you...that''s the beauty of freedom of religion. More so, the beauty of the separation of church and state. The day your personal beliefs are forced onto me and others who don''t share the same ideas will be the day America ignores the reason it was founded.

As for feeling things will get worse, we''ll just have to wait and see. The Dems have the power to make some serious changes. Thank goodness they were granted the chance.

Tolerance is a heck of a lot eaiser to spell than it is to show. Rember judge not lest ye be judged.

Mine, don''t be too bitter.....i''m sure clinton will continue to be blamed, even for this turn of events.

and, yes, i will blame bush for the lies and deceit he has used to put this country on the road to fascism.

however, i don''t expect much out of this congress change: most of them supported everything the administration did to put us on that road.

but i''m ever so glad anyway!

Ebree~And it works BOTH ways, Christians should have the right as well, just as you have the right to "beleive" that you are living under the Banner of Jesus Christ, I have the right to tell you that your comment was unfounded and not true. Blaming the Word of God for the ills of this country is ludicrous and is just as easy to do as blaming Clinton (I don''t blame Clinton, he never did anything.... EVER) and Bush for everything comes down the line.

Color~ Judge not lest ye be judged is a good line to quote when it is convenient. And as far as I have leanred, Christianity has NEVER taught tolerence, that is the same as indifference. But, I did not attack Ebree''s "religion" as she so nonchalantly did mine. Why is it that those who speak of how Tolerant they are, are really only tolerant when it is convenient for them, at least I have the guts to admiting that I think tolerance is disgusting.

Eh MZ... it just gives us more food for debate, the Dems will be attacked soon enough... it is politics after all.

Where, in either of my posts, did I blame the word of god for the ills of this country? And please, point out where I attacked your religion.

I believe that this was a snide to blame the problems on the "laws of Jesus Christ" And to instuct, His Word is the Word of God.

You comment

I welcome the fact that now (hopefully), we won''t have to live under laws according to Jesus Christ,

I''m Christian also, and I still don''t understand how it was a snide comment about Jesus Christ. I think she just meant the lines between Church and State are becoming increasingly blurred, which is SUPPOSED to not happen.

Are you being serious?

When I mentioned living under Jesus Christ, I was speaking about issues such as, for example, threatened anti-abortion laws. Gay marriage bans. But nowhere in my post did I say or even imply that I blamed the ills of society on Christianity.

As I will be living in the US in the near future, I watched the election results come in while biting my nails in agonized suspense. I am amazed.

Good on you, USA!

(And while I don't want to fan the flames, I found Mine's comment a little shocking. 'Infidel' is a strong word, especially when you consider that word has historically been applied indiscriminately to anyone in disagreement with a group's beliefs, including between different sects of Christianity.)

ETA: Did I mention Good on you, USA?

Equating indefferance to tolerance is a pretty strong statement. I believe God will judge in his time.
It sounds as if you believe everyone should think as you do and the govt. should enforce those beliefs As such you have much in common with the taliban
